It would work well enough since the powder can get it's signal from the block it is sitting on.
(Did I just step on some powder without breaking it?)
Well notch said this was to make torches more predictable, but honestly I think they where predictable enough before. They sent their signal in every direction except the block they where on.
basically way to open and close doors from outside and inside, but when your inside you want to "lock" the doors so they cant be opened from the outside, i did something like this for my double doors, but its the old way.
Is that four doors in all, or just two doors with a spacer in between? Four doors would be very difficult to get the switch in the middle to work since two of them will be closed in the 0 position, and the other two open in the 0 position.
Have you tried putting powder on top of the blocks the torched are attached to for the little X? I've been wanting to try this, but it's hard to see the game at night when I'm sitting outside.
Wow, sorry for off-topic and all, but some of you people with your gates and knowledge of wire, I would pay you (when Minecraft Alpha get Multiplayer) or trade something for something(EX: an XOR gate for 40 iron XD) for you guys to wire up some sorta thing for me.. I can use G-mod wire, but this seems way more complicated especially the names.
I just noticed red stuff will only make the wire go up one level when placed on a higher block like you have a wire on ground level, and you make 1 block before the wire, and make a wire on top of that block, a wire going up will be created, but when you do 2 blocks at a time.. it dosn't do that, Anyone else think the wires should be able to go up much farther? I don't plan on making stairs for the wires to go up because that looks awful and takes up space

Oh, this isn't very hard! Right now things haven't really "stabilized", with things changing etc., but in a few weeks time, I'm sure that there will be popping up tons of newbie friendly guides.
Thanks, and I just started playing the game and messing around with wires.. it seems alot simpler when you're actually playing it..

You can use a vertical inverter tower as vertical wires
Cover it in rock, hook a pulser at the bottom and you got a light house (just need stronger e-torches)
Oh thanks, what is the bricks suppose to be tho?
Edit : actaully, I don't see how that works at all, torches in the middle? you can't build a block on top of a torch..
and brick is suppose to be a block with wire on top? How do you make a Not gate? I'm hopelessly lost in terms of gates. And I'm just talking of a way to make wires simply go up, with no aid of other things, just a wire going straight up a block..
Except then you need to add in another layer of blocks for the red stuff to sit on :wink.gif:

Anybody figure out a way to make an XOR gate now?
what would I use for a combination lock? (4 switches, 1, 2 and 4 have to be on, 3 has to be off as an example, then push a button to unlock)
I have as much room as necessary, but I'd like to know what i need to do [-]__[-]
are we sure these are optimized fully?
It's fun to be ignored... I already reworked the XOR and other gates, and it's only a page back you guys =\
XOR (6x3x2, whereas the old one was 6x3x1):

They are of course not, the following would produce an or switch:

Converted to nice easy to read layout:

Just make sure it is an odd number of jumps, if not, add a not gate at the end

Anyways, I don't know if a clock has been submitted yet. Here's the minimum size I've found.
NOR
No worries; just saw a bunch of people asking about it when it was only a page back lol.

Thanks for the layout :biggrin.gif: Need to make my own sprite image for such things.
