"With Beta comes a larger focus on polish and content, and we’ll start early on with adding proper modding support with a stable API, and we’d love all input we can get on this from the modders out there. We’ll also add some kind of non-intrusive narrative to the game to help drive the game experience early on, and to provide some kind of late game goal. There will be a bigger focus on testing and stability as well, with more time between updates."- Notch
I jizzed?
Nao we shall come up w/ stories for the narrative.
EDIT: So obviously it's not coming today with notch's latest twitter posts, but we can still look forward to it!
I imagine after the world generates for the first time, your camera will zoom in on you, and your spawn point from a larger location. Still in a 3rd person outside view, your head and the camera points to a tree out in the distance, then out farther some coal sticking out of a mountain. The camera then zooms in to 1st person.
Then, BAM! Your screen flashes white, and you have a "vision" of the sun falling and zombies, creepers, and spiders crawling out from the caves. Then your camera flashes back and your free to play!

Nah, that'd be the tutorial or something.
I think it would be part of the "adventure" mode, there could be like randomly generated castles and things that you have to seige. Or something.

I think it would be cool if, very rarely, you could stumble upon a "base" or small town that a family of creepers/zombies or something lived in and you could attack it.
i also agree on more content... im more excited about the possibilitys of new blocks and mechanisms, also new mobs... however some sort of driving force might be nice... id rather see gears and the such be implemented in a way that could be very usefull... just an example.
Maybe a randomly generated story about how your character got to wherever he spawns at that place appears on new world generation?
Maybe a format like:
{Reason for exploring} {Reason for stranded (Biome Specific?)} {Reason for staying}
For example:
"Long have you explored the oceans looking for somewhere to call home. You would not think your choice would be so... Forced. A freak wind brought your boat to this place, and another took the boat away. Making the most of a bad situation you decided to make this land your home."
There might be an option to edit the list of text peices for things like mods.
Rollback Post to RevisionRollBack
If you're callin' about the Mobtalker scripts, I no longer have access to them.
However, it's been getting tempting lately to put together a modpack that includes CustomNPCs, so I could definitely work in something along the same themes in the modpack's quests. Feel free to give suggestions of mods that promote an experience which minimizes mining grind in favor of exploration. I'll likely have to include Grimorie of Gaia to provide good models (No I'm not gonna directly change the default mob models)
