I have a large home that I think is pretty cool. Side note: its naturally invincible, no creeper nor anything else can hurt it or me, which I am thankful for, as I play on hard (I once killed 2 creepers together in a cave, moved forward 2 squares, and got blown up by a 3rd creeper I didn't see. ffs).
Entryway floor/right.
The floor is tiled stone/wool, the wire is powered by a torch under the center wool.
Entryway ceiling/left. I like my little flowers...
Did I mention the whole thing is underwater? thats kind of important, lol. Behind this angle is a small entry dome/mine entrance, glass topped, but not worth showing.
Bottom of the stairs from the entryway, this is my work kitchen, better seen from the other angle...
I put O's on the signs I made the cupboards from to look like knobs* (one's behind my hand), and a wood pressure plate to be a cutting board*. Otherwise it's a fairly average stove/cabinet/'fridge' utility combo.
The double doors in the kitchen lead to this pleasant hallway, which in turn leads to...
The grand hall! I love this room. Big waterfall* from the ocean above me with neat 9-high fence accent columns*, some nice chairs, paintings, and things that look like lamps*.
(the open doors center above the close chair in the 2nd pic is the hallway, and where the 2st was taken.)
The doors from this room don't go anywhere as I'm not done yet, but one will be a bedroom and the other... idk yet, maybe up to a tower that rises far above the surface or something cool like that.
The waterfall isn't a security risk because this is a snow map, so not only is that hole ~8 squares from the surface, the surface is covered in ice. See? Invincible. :biggrin.gif:
Oh, here is what it looks like from the surface.
I'm really quite happy with it, being my first try at opulence. Certainly not the best thing ever, or even in this thread, but its mine and I like it.
*original ideas, or at least that I've never seen elsewhere.
Trust me, the gorgeous Painterly texture pack makes it look 10x better. But on the whole I'm happy with it. It was a blocky attempt at one of them fancy modern homes with lots of wood, glass, and steel. My favorite room so far is the upstairs sitting room. Nice 'n cozy. :3
Thank you for introducing me to the Painterly Texture Pack! I don't think even with all my lurking here I would have come across this. Does SA have any other packs not on these forums?
You need to build an exact replica of Manhattan made of diamonds and when you're done then your diamond Manhattan disappears and in its crater is one lantern.
Build your house into the side of a hill or inside a cave, that way eliminating the need for external aesthetics almost completely.
But... I like making my stuff purdy. :sad.gif:

i found out literally minutes after playing around with fences!
also you can turn them into flags, albeit stick-flags, which don't actually look cool.
Ew @ textures... But that's pretty cool. I'll be doing something like that someday. Hooray for inspiration!

I'm aware others knew of them being stackable; I'd never seen anyone make them that high or as accent columns to a huge f'ing waterfall. The aesthetic application has original is what I'm saying.
Also: agreeing with ^ eww textures.
The third floor. Not much going on yet. Fooling around with cloth and signs to make furniture.
Second floor. Primary crafting area. The Ladder/bookcases are the only method of moving between floors.
First floor.
The entrance, as seen from the observation deck.
...and turning around, the view.
External views, including the farm on the roof.
Side-view of the observation deck, and the entrance to the reservoir.
Inside the reservoir. Note the wall to the right- the reservoir surrounds the living space entirely. I intend to eventually make a cobblestone factory here.
Now, this is all well and good, but what does it look like from the outside?
The view from the hill overlooked by the observation deck:
The burning blocks are the remains of the scaffolding I set up for construction purposes. When the building was completed, I set it on fire. It's still burning, to this day.
Looking up at the building, and it's shadow:
Finally, one of the draining points of the reservoir. The only (safe) way in or out is to swim in one of these streams. Using a boat is quicker, but if you don't know the trick, you'll wind up suffocating in the bottom of the observation deck.
I based the design on the Necropolis building in the warcraft series.

Invincible? Nonsense! Allow me to introduce you to my box of matches.
^No mob can do damage to it or me while inside it; this isn't smp.
Oh, and there is no large contiguous piece of flammable material, any one fire wouldn't do much. The kitchen would be worst, but still not much and it wouldn't spread far. (wooden stairs can't be burned.)
Here's my interpretation of Frank Lloyd Wright's Fallingwater (minus the falling water, for now). It was hard to include many of the details and keep the building a realistic size, so I took a few liberties, but I like how it turned out.

Nice work. I just searched the forum to see if anyone had done this yet. I hope you'll repost when you get the water flowing.
Well, it's certainly not as impressive as the things you guys have made but here's a somewhat decent igloo I made out of snowball blocks on a snow world. I tried to make it look round on the outside. The inside is square and I have since made it look a little rounder on the inside.
It's just meant to be a small base near my spawn point and I figured an igloo would be perfect on a snow world.
(how do I embed youtube videos? I tried the normal things with the tags, but it doesn't seem to work when I hit preview) Thanks!
