The only problem with the really pleasing combinations are that they are extremely flammable. Has anyone tried making a fireproof house? Like, some mechanism that floods the house in water if fire burns away a certain block? Or making it solely of stone and such?
I like that idea, floors would have to be quite thick to hold water like that... but it would be funny to see.

Wow, nice tower. It seems that a lot of people are using a mixture of cloth and wood..
Does anybody else have this problem?
So, with my houses, they have to be symmetrical. Say my house is 5 blocks long, it has one middle block and therefore has to have only one door, in the middle. But the actual DOOR isn't symmetrical, so that's a no-no. Say my house was 6 blocks long, with double doors. I would eventually expand to two floors, BUT WAIT, SYMMETRY. That means two staircases, one on each side. I would only use one of them, which would put the other one to waste, which annoys me TO NO END >:C.
Sucks, ey?
Are you Death The Kid?!?!

Hmm, yeah. I think the general idea would be having an infinite water spring hidden somewhere in the house, like above or right beside a fireplace, and if fire somehow spreads from it, it'll begin to burn a block right by the water and release it, putting out all the fire automatically. :biggrin.gif:
if you like things above ground. I like underground houses. They are so much fun, because nothing can get in (or out usually). Also, if you are using underground houses, you can make epic entrances and caverns and whatnot. No pics, sorry.
Also, underground houses are great for monster traps. like the tnt/fall damage traps those youngsters use.
also, sometimes you can run into some diamond or coal or iron which really makes building underground worthwhile. and, you never need to go outside if you have a lava tree farm, a coblestone creator, and farming plot (with epic lava of course) but if this isn't awesome enough, you can make a tower and castle on top of the lair.
just a few thoughts :smile.gif:
ps. wood is ugly and flammable, as i found out. and it's really much better to use or + or :mossystone:.

What? So when pigs get hit by lighting, they suddenly develop into bipeds and receive brown leather skirts and golden swords from nowhere?

I love threads like these. The designs in here are really inspiring. :biggrin.gif:
Here's my WIP attempt at a somewhat aesthetically pleasing house. At least one that tries to be more interesting than a cardboard box. :tongue.gif:
Trust me, the gorgeous Painterly texture pack makes it look 10x better. But on the whole I'm happy with it. It was a blocky attempt at one of them fancy modern homes with lots of wood, glass, and steel. My favorite room so far is the upstairs sitting room. Nice 'n cozy. :3

My first attempt at designing an aesthetically pleasing home. I think it looks pretty good, not sure how others feel about it. I plan on adding a fence and designing the interior soon.

I haven't seen any pictures of this building being built in minecraft but it does look pretty epic.
Death The Kid?
It's from an anime called SoulEater. He was obsessed with symmetry
