I know most of you have read the book, "Hatchet" by Gary Paulsen. If you haven't, it is a book about a 14-year-old kid that is in a plane wreck. I have decided to make a map/game-mode based on this book.
1. You will start with an Iron axe and nothing else.
2. You will be near a Plane in the lake.
3. The plane will contain, as similar to the book , a bow, some flint and steel, iron ingots, and lots of wood. Also, a crap-load of torches.
4. The L-shaped lake will be there.
5. Under the sand, where the turtle eggs where burried, will be a chest WITH BREAD!
Any more suggestions?

It actually has 2 sequels. One where the plane didn't find him, and one where it did. The other is called The River.

The one which is in winter is called, quite creativley, "Hatchet: Winter"
"Winter" is a Spinoff when Brian (I think thats his name) doesnt actiualy signal the rescue plane after finding the survival kit in "Hatchet". He then survives the winter using the things he learnt during the summer.
The next one, "Hatchet: The Return" is when Brian and a government man both willingly enter the wilderness, again, to properly document and study Brian's survival techiques. However, the trip goes to hell when the Government man (Whose name i think begins with a 'D', David, Derek or something?) gets struck by lighting during a thunderstorm, while trying to contact home base with a radio. Now that the Radio is broken, and the man is in a coma and dying, Brian decides to build a raft and float down a river with the Government man to find help.
"Hatchet: The Call" is the next book, in which Brian willignly return to the forrest, alone, due to him missing the woods. Nothing much happens during this book, except for Brian traveling down rivers and lakes to visit the Smallhorn Family, who rescued Brian During "Hatchet: Winter".
There is one last book, which i have NOT read, called (I belive) "Brian's Hunt"
Brian arrives at the house in which the Smallhorn family live, only to find them all slaughtered by a Bear. The book details Brian hunting down the bear in revenge, although i do not know the details as i have only read the blurb of the book.
A Non-Fiction Book, "Hatchet: The truth" details the author, Gary Paulsen's real life experiences on hunting in the wilderness to survive throughout his childhood. Very interesting book, by the way.

Urist McJimmy Cancels Play Minecraft; Dwarf Fortress too Awesome.
&!☺!&
although, i would NOT have the bow inside the Plane, as Brian had to make the bow from scratch in the Book.
you should make it difficult to get in the plane, i dont know how, but it should be something one will do after a few days setting up camp, as like in the book. (although, brian in the book spent months, not days, before entering the plane)

but there was a gun in the plane right? (havn't read the book in a while)
yeah, the plane should be made of obsidian, and prehaps have random blocks in the way when you enter so its hard to get in and out.
Just as a thought for 'looks', the plane could be two layers, the inside layer being the obsidian and the outside layer being whatever you'll have the plane look like, this way you can still have a nice look to it and still have the obsidian idea.
Dangit. I screwed up in the middle of building the plane. I will make the plane easier to get into like making it out of something possible to get into without too much difficulty. As in the book, it will be made of something simmilar to alluminum.

Thanks to books like Hatchet, and My Side of the Mountain, I thought that I could hike into the mountains and make a living for myself as a kid. I even had a notebook where I would research survival techniques, and would plan my trip.
It never happened, but even now in my late 20s, I still think it would be pretty cool to live like a mountain man.
Well, I am having major problems with my PC. The processor burnt out, and I had to get a whole new PC. Time to start from block 1.
So you can't transfer it over? Just take it out of the computer and put it in the enclosure (referring to the world file)
A virus is what started all of the mess-up anyways. I don't know if the files are still there after the virus got into the hard-drive.
Damn... I hope you progress fast and well, as I loved the books about this so many years ago.
I think you should make the map lack diamonds, and the only redstone should be as a compass in the plane, and the iron axe should be hacked to last for the whole game, as in the book it did not break, as it is Steel.
For a bow problem, you could make string in a chest by some bushes to be the sinew of an animal, along with some grilled meat.
Just trying to be helpful.
