Engineer.
Mainly just test stuff like MC boosters, TNT cannons, Redstone circuits and make buildings that use these in their design to help make them better.

Notch on his twitter: "bugs that feel wrong get fixed"
Do not get attached to your saves, seriously, stuff like this has happened before, if there's something you love and really want to build...Wait for release.
I see myself as a builder, destroyer, and a budding scientist. I do a lot of exploring caves also, but that's just for the materials I need.
My rationale for those choices: I have a list of about 6 things I plan to build, and have built 3 or 4 other pretty big things (still haven't gotten around to making a base, though). I recently blew up a continent (not an island, a continent), and I've been testing several things with the sciences of Minecraft, even if I haven't made any interesting discoveries yet.
I'm a Miner (I LOVE mining!),an Explorer (I enjoy seeing new places. Spelunking is umbrella'd under this term),and a Hunter (sniper,really...I can hit a moving Creeper from 50 blocks away...In the dark).
I do build awesome things sometimes, but I use INVEdit to get the materials. To me,my home is in a cave. Set up dividing walls, some doors and a few chests, then BAM,that's my home if I'm not in a building mood.
Assassin, Sniper, Hitman . . . you got someone you want to kill . . .
Feel free to hire me.

How about mad scientist? :biggrin.gif: I don't really care for designing because I don't have a creative bone in my body, but making things DO things i.e. explode violently...okay then :biggrin.gif:
Farmer :biggrin.gif:
Reeds, Cacti, Grass, Wheat... You name it, I can grow it with the best possible efficiency.
Also, building minecart tracks is fun, but I'm not exactly good at it yet, lol.
Hunter/Builder/Archer/Spelunker
I like getting behind an iron door, which can not be opened, take out a grappling hook, hook some creepers and stuff to my door, and kill them. I also have lots of archery stations all over y world, nothing more entertaining then shooting creepers from 50 blocks off the ground.
1) Building. Castles, forts, etc. Only a minute ago from typing this, I was playing Minecraft and finished stage 2 of a large arena on a friend's server.
2) Experiment. I love redstone, and can often be found creating alarm systems, door openers, minecart controls, etc.
3) Farming. I have a massive indoor farm on the server I mentioned above. It has six 9x9 wheat plantations, several rows of reeds, a tree farm (specifically designed to be easy to manage and also to produce maximum wood), and a cacti farm, all of which I harvest regularly. I basically supply the server's food supply (we play with health and mobs, so...)
Farming should be an option in the poll, btw.

just got the game today, for now, miner/cave explorer.
been running into lava a lot and could someone tell me how to mine diamond my picks seem to have no effect. =?
To mine diamonds you have to have an iron pickaxe or higher. If you're not getting any diamonds, it's probably because you're using a wood/gold/stone pickaxe.
My profession in Minecraft is Farming, Mining, and Testing.
Farming: I make Wheat Farms a lot, mostly underground. I always make one next to my first house on a new save after obtaining a bucket. If I always stick to one save, then there would be one Wheat Farm for every house I make.
Mining: This is my best profession in Minecraft. Everything I make has some involvement with the underground. On every new save, I will dig a home into the mountain, and then I'll dig a Mine connecting to the house once I have some torches. I plan on connecting all of my homes to my Mine.
Testing: This is a new profession that I started recently. If I wanted to test, say, a mob trap, I would create two rooms, separated by a glass wall. The first room is the observation room, and the second room is the testing room. There, I would build the mob trap I wanted to test, and then I would test it, using myself, to see if it would work. That's how I test.

Miner - Whenever I find ore (excluding redstone) I WILL MINE IT. Even if it is gold (I use gold to make armor)
Builder - I love to build mega structures, houses, and underground bases. Just today, I made a nice forge that goes somewhat like this -
Why? XD Just the prestige?
And I have to agree with Vesivian - I'm a Minecraft dreamer as well.
Feel free to hire me.

Whenever I see something beautiful, I have the horrible urge to remove it, to desecrate it, to make it ugly.

I once made a massive tower base; the bottom, smaller floor was for storage, smelting, etc., the larger upper floor and roof were for my laboratory.
