Loved the video were the chicken and cow came flying down.
Will you be making a video on how to explore caves?
I don't have the guts to go down there, as soon as I hear something down there I just run right up to the entrance.
EDIT: I would like to say that I just started to play this game yesterday, and you videos helped me survive the first few days/nights... now I have somehow gotten attached to my first home(island). Is it possible to cross the ocean and use them for collecting resources?
I started playing yesterday as well. Was having fun with another, graphics-intensive game, then I remembered having read about Minecraft, and I went ahead and bought it. I must say, I am surprised to see an Alpha version not crashing (yet) on my system, and the only times my character has died so far was from fall damage and when an entrance he was digging out collapsed on top of his head (quite a surprise).
These videos rock! Your smooth and professional voice explaining the basics in a calm and friendly manner, together with the screen capture videos makes it much easier to understand what is going on and how to get anywhere. I was first happy to see a Tutorial button in the client menu, but disappointed to find out it was not working, so these videos are much appreciated.
The price of less than ten Euro for something like this is not too much at all. I am also interested to see what comes out of the Valve meeting. If this game becomes available through Steam I imagine there will be Steam achievements (I became an achievements wh*re with Half Life 2 and the Episodes).
Anyway, thanks so much for these videos! You make life much easier for us newbies :smile.gif:
I can't wait to see how this game will progress, I am also surprised how smooth this game is.
Maybe the game creator(is his nicknamed Notch?) will add links to your videos for the tutorial?
At least it will work as a temporary solution so that we won't get lost on what to do at the beginning.
After learning the basics the user tends to just explore on their own, or at least that is how it is for me.
A quick word of warning: By decorating your fence with 1-high blocks like you did in the corners, you've introduced entry points into your base. For the most part, the blocks are 2-high from the outside, but that one in the back next to the building isn't. Also, it might be good to mention that skeletons can shoot through fences.
Ah, I've seen these before. Or, at least part one.
It was actually one of the two videos that got me to buy the game! A friend showed it to me, since it was a well explained example of what Survival mode is all about, and exactly how the main aspects of gameplay work, such as dealing with monsters, crafting, digging, and block placement. And really, that was all I needed to see to want to buy the game :tongue.gif:
I've figured out pretty much everything else on my own here... last night I finally went and did a complex redstone project.... but the first video was very well made, I might go and watch the rest just... because. I'd rather like to see how they turned out, and also minecraft videos are just... fascinating.
One way or another though, great job of what I've seen so far.

All good points but I suppose I gotta leave some things for personal discovery.
Anyway, just posted Part 8. Finally got HD set up.
Up to 11 videos now. :smile.gif: What started out as pure tutorial is now slowly evolving into an ongoing saga. But I always try teaching *something* new in each video so still helpful for new players. :smile.gif: Enjoy.
I stumbled onto the first video completely by accident before I even knew what minecraft was. I then watched all of them one after the other and decided to buy minecraft. Awesome videos.
*edit: one of the first channels I've ever liked enough to subscribe to*
MY GOD! I remember watching these....when there were only 4. Before I got the game! Your voice is so calming.
A LP would be great.
You could make a good radio talk show host.
