Sorry, I have not been here for a bit, I've been really busy working as the new school year started up, which has delayed my building a bit.
Some one mentioned using lava or water for the nacelles, that is what I have done thus far, it is kind of hard to see in the pictures, but I used water and glass and a lot of torches for the ones that are complete. When I finish the main body, I will figure out how to post a video of it if anyone is interested. I also could post a file save, but it is a kind of massive file.
And for the record, I have usually 4 furnaces going at a time, given the time it takes to place the blocks this is really all that is needed. I had a good number of cobble stones before starting (although as I began to build I realized I would need a whole lot more), but had not actually smelted any stones beforehand.
And I am totally jealous of the other model, even if he made it in creative, that is still really epic, but at least mine got some attention here http://www.wired.com/gamelife/2010/10/minecraft-danger/ which makes me at least feel a little recognized.
Props go out to the OP for his undertaking in Survival mode without hacking!!
I myself have been building structures and have succumbed to hacking/inventory utility use for a few diamond tools and stacks of track and the new lightblocks just to save time. There is something to be said about the dedication of making your own smooth blocks. I have 12 or more furnaces that I run at a time for my castle building.
Lots of star trek ships though, how about some others now? =D
Some have been mentioned, some other ideas: Battlestar Galactica, USS Sulaco, super star destroyer...
aww heck http://www.merzo.net/index.html =D
Has he uploaded it anywhere? I am missing something?
Thanks!
