Hi, sorry if this was asked before, but i couldn't find it through search.
Anyway - is there any way to prevent animals from bumping my 'docked' minecarts away? I have this really long track going with some stations along the way, and it's infuriates me when i come back with all my freshly mined goods to store for transit and find half of my storage carts gone.
I've tried walling the track off, but as i expanded the route, some places didn't have enough space for it (While others looked just plain silly)
I could always elevate the parts where it gets the most annoying, but i'd rather see if there are any good alternatives first.
tl;dr - omg, animals stealing mah carts, wut i do?
Minecarts + animals are hell. In order to animal proof your carts, not a single track can be placed on grass, and preferably not on dirt either. Make it all cobblestone. From there, well you kind of have to fence it in, either with two block high walls, or with actual fences, or a block with a half block on top. If you cant jump over, they can't jump over. Also, your storage carts could be glitching away if you're stations are set up wrong. Infinite loops, double carts etc all make minecarts vanish. You should be using stuff found in Bob's minecart tutorial, or in similar tutorials. If you're going off of perpetual motion and don't want to install boosters, then it's likely it's glitching away, but [self advertising warning] I have built a stable perpetual motion station, if you want to check out the thread- viewtopic.php?f=35&t=98635

I was affraid i would have to rebuild it.
I tried using powered minecarts and boosters, but in the end it was just faster to push them all by myself (And i have to unload it all anyway). I'm pretty sure it's not the fault of my route, because i always find my carts at one point or another, it's just those damned animals >.<
Yeah, if you can always find them, it's just the animals. Make it stone and build it up! It's a pain but you wont have to deal with animals again.
Guess I'll have to. Good thing i hoarded tons of cobblestone.
Oh, btw - I know animals have the same jump height, but can they (or any other mob) climb ladders? I've never really seen them get anywhere near one so i'm not entirely sure (That way i can just climb straight on the track without having to back-track to a station)

I do believe hostile mobs can; Unsure about animals though. They can't open doors though.
