Ok so i have decided to do something massive in Minecraft, so i figured, why shouldnt i build a massive castle? Ive also decided to post pictures of the build on this forum so that you could help me out with some ideas. I have the boundaries already picked out, and i have yet to count it. It is so big, it takes about 20 seconds to walk one edge. I will count it once i get the floor put down. So, yeah. I will have pictures ready soon... so please just stick around!
I dont think so, at least not right now. I am just going to make it huge. It will take way to long to count, but one side has 16 torches spread about 10-15 blocks apart, so it will be big
You have no idea how annoying it is to try to do that. Unless if you've already attempted a 'super-castle' before.
Freaking mountains and water are the bane of any castle builder.
I tried to make a ridiculously huge castle (On par with the size of Hogwarts castle from Harry Potter), but it's just too much work for one person. I've decided to settle for medium/largish castles instead of super castles.
My advice, get friends to help you, and give them a whole lot of TNT. Before you even try to make a super castle, clear out at least several thousand square blocks of area, and make it flat to build on.
Here is the basic outline... The castle in the back is my normal castle. The first wall going across (to the left) was where i was going to stop, but i decided to make it bigger. So yeah here is another pic from the other side. It takes forever to get around this thing.
Oh and yes i know it will be terrible to fill in the water and dig everything out. That was just the flattest area on my map (that I know of...)
i suggest you to plan how to do it before you start, otherwise it will be such a pain to built that you may quit, i made one myself (small one, the big didn't work)
Rectangular walls, huh? Well, just make sure there's lots of towers and some circular geometry to make it look good. (I honestly find a rectangle and/or square design for the main castle walls to be a bit 'stale' in a way. Variance and melding into the landscape makes all the difference.
I don't know about the biome you chose though... A castle in sand and water filled area seems a bit strange. Castles look better inside forests, tundra, on islands, or surrounded by mountains. I can predict much landscaping work being done in the future here.
But that's just my inexperienced opinion. The real castle expert is whomever managed to build Minas Tirith in minecraft. That was godly.
Haha yeah, good points...My plan was to obviously fill in the inside so that the house isnt an ocean, but I will plant trees all around the edges. And Im going to add towers and round things. But I was thinking it would be cool to have the entrance go down under the water. I hope it will be pretty cool...
But yeah like i said, this is just an outline because i cant see the entire thing so I needed to know where the walls would be.
Are you gathering all the materials yourself, or are you using INVedit? Either way, good luck on your endeavor.
I want to do this whole thing all by myself without any other programs. I think that would be much more special... So yeah, and it sucks on peaceful because i dont have any gunpowder from the Creepers. So of course that means no TNT.
But yeah, i might think about it once i get further along...

Ok, so I just got the wall all at one level so that I could figure out the dimensions of the castle. SO... the dimensions so far are 143 x 69 x12 (but going to be way taller)
So yeah, Ive decided to cave and i am now using INVeditor, but only for things in the castle... like im going to use TNT and diamond bits just for the castle, and when I go back to actually playing and mining and stuff, I have a seperate supply box with all the stuff. This way i can still build this massive castle without interfering with the actual game. but yeah...
I have also decided that for now I am just building a rectangle. It will take much too long for anything of shape, but i will add on later. I know it will be plain, but I will make the inside look good enough.
Here is a picture of the progress so far. I also added a little entrance for now, just to break it up a little...
Ok so after a week of straight work and dynamiting and digging and placing 9,656 blocks of grass, I finally have a flat grass field. Again the dimensions on the inside are 142 x 68. It took forever, and now I have to make the yard lines, which should be fun. But yeah... I am so happy that that part is done.
So here is a picture of the last remaining block of grass to fill in. It was a spiritual moment!
Up next on the checklist:
-yardlines
-Lighting
-and the rest of the stadium (stands, building, outside)
-walkways
-Jesse
You heard that, green and red.

so yeah, it will be big. Not like take up the whole map big, but seeing as im one person, it will be a challenge

this is just another little project im working on... just the entrance to my castle... no big deal.

Build a mob trap, plenty of guides around...
