I hope Notch implements another form of stone or some type of building material. Cobblestone, smooth, and half-blocks run out of interesting combinations so quickly.
I know, right? It runs out of combinations even faster when mossy cobblestone is so rare, and when entire sections of cities are made out of types of stone. Maybe he can add stone bricks/slabs and something that looks like river-stone or something. It would be a nice addition.

Well, I was just about to start on the palace. Then I realized something.
I forgot my flash drive with my level on it at home.
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo...
Well, I'll be working on the website (Kontipedia!) and the seecret project (OoooOOOOoo!) instead. Hopefully I'll finally be able to get stuff done on those two. If enough gets done on the website, I'll linky-linky to it.
I've been doing a lot of isometric designing the last few days, trying to come up with some good looking buildings for downtown. The hospital plan is finished, and I've moved on to planning Notch Temple. So I'm still able to work on stuff even without having the save on me. :wink.gif:
EDIT: Replaced "Big FUUUU" with a "Big NOOOOO" for better effect.

Yep! I plan most of the buildings I make, even the plain, boxy type ones.
The only thing that will be free-form in Lynaker, Lynaker will be the castle, because the design of that will rely HEAVILY on the geography of where I place it.
Which reminds me... I have to figure out where to place it.
<Rushes off to scour over the Cartograph map>
EDIT: Updated the first post a bit. The only major thing was the addition of the "seecret project" to the list, and the news that I now have ONE FULL article done on Kontipedia. Yays. =D

I noticed something. Namlös is surrounded by wildlands and wildlands is evil continent, right? So should it be little damaged or something?
1.) The Wildlands isn't a country or a continent. It's an un-established area, like much of the Americas were before everyone started flooding in and claiming land.
2.) The isn't evil, it's just desolate and not really used by many people. It's also dangerous to travel in because since it isn't a nation, it has no law. you can image the type of people that would roam that area.
3.) The only "evil" country is Ont. thus the name.
************************************
Anayways, Im getting ready to do a FRIGG'N MASSIVE OVERHALL of the first post. Here's what I'm doing:
[*:3cv54vm7]Add more info on the website (Kontipedia), and give the link.
[*:3cv54vm7]Reveal the "seecret project," and show the first [seecret thingie]! OoooOOOOoo
[*:3cv54vm7]Rename the OVERALL project to the new name. Project Kontinent will now be the map only. This seperates the overall project into three main projects, where Kontipedia and [seecret!] projects are reduced to even smaller projects.
[*:3cv54vm7]Make three new banners (one for Kontipedia, one for [seecret], and one for the OVERALL name)
[*:3cv54vm7]Some other stuff I can't remember
Once that is done (which may take a while, so be patient), I'm going to plan out the design for the Grand Palace. I had to scrap the old design because it wouldn't have enough room inside for stuff.
So, time to get busy!
To the edit button!

It's small because it's single pixels. Zoom in if you must. Dark Grey is cobblestone, light grey is rock, and light blue is glass. The dome is a glass dome with cobbelstone supports.
It's already late, so I think I'm just going to do some more concepts, which I will post here in the comments.
EDIT 1:
A castle of some sort. Don't know where I'd put it.
EDIT 2:
One more, this time a Tower. I'll probably use this design for a religious tower... if it'll fit by height. Dark Brown is logs, Light Brown is planks.

I would love to see some pictures of the mines you are getting all these resources from!
I would, but it would take a couple hundred to show it all. I'll post a pic of my obsidian collecttion cave next time I go down there, though. it's pretty big. :wink.gif:

Good luck with this!
I can't wait for an upload of the map to explore it.
EDIT:
Just gone and re-read your OP.
I really like the idea of writing a book based on this mega undertaking. I suppose we will be seeing it in about a year, when you've finished making the map? xD
Also, your link isn't working at the minute.
I'm still deciding how to release the book. Should I try to get it published (will need Notch's permission for that), release it on the forums(would be epic-long topic just with the posting of the chapters), or on a blog type thing [like the ye-olde-journals only MUCH longer (and since there's no pictures, I wouldn't the technical issues I had with my old two journal attempts)]? I can't decide. Whatever way I do it will decide when you guys get to see it.
What link are you talking about, by the way? Kontipedia link works fine for me... :/
Also, the first map upload will come once the city of Lynaker is done. :wink.gif:
Now... off to palace construction!!!
EDIT: Also, now that we have clay & papyrus, I don't have to hack for bricks & bookcases now! Yays.
EDIT2: GAHH!!!! NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!
It looks like my suspicions were true that I forgot to take my last save and copy it to my flash drive. While no buildings were lost, all the work I did with adding more signs is gone.
But that's not too big of a deal.
It's the bank vault I hate lousing.
It took me 3 hours to get the lock to work right, and another 2 hours to make the vault itself! I had used 5-8 stacks of obsidian (I forget the exact amount) and a bunch of gold too! it's gona take forever to replace all that!
*sighs*
Well, I'll deal with it another day. Focusing on the palace right now.

huh... Will you make a clay factory for your bricks? (make it out of bricks, like This?
You know, all dark and sinister with loads of coal bins and brick furnaces with smoke stacks and what not. Put it in the evil country :biggrin.gif:
I can't see the picture, but I know what you mean. That's actually an awesome idea! I could make two halves for it to, one half brick and one half stone. Brick half is furnaces for smelting stone & bricks, stone half for smelting ores. Would work nicely I think. =D

First, topic views hit 3,000. It goes up fast. O.O
Today I found out that Procaster SUCKS (on my computer, at least). It lags to hell when running with MC (which lags enough as it is) and the recordings have some weird noise going on. I added a "Livestream" section to the OP anyways, just so it's there when I can finally stream.
Also, I just finished building the Grand Palace. It's still mostly unfurnished, but I'll furnish it at a later date.
If you don't feel like searching through the OP for the new pics, here there are:
Front of the Grand Palace
Glass "Dome" in the Grand Palace
Main Hall in Grand Palace
I couldn't make a proper glass dome because of the way the space was shaped, so I improvised.
In the Main Hall, that sand with torches on it will be replaced with gold, and a gold [something] will be made over/in the water. Like a sculpture.
So, now I'm going to blast the mountain that's in the way of the Grand Park to bits, so I can make the park. After that's done, I'm gona make a dock, then go out on a boat again to try to find some clay. I did some exploring last night, but all I got was bamboo/papyrus/reeds. At least I confirmed that my location for Semiahmoo is NOT in Kontinent. :smile.gif:
EDIT: I blew up the hill/mountain that was on the Grand Park area, then went off and made a short canal so I could access the lake where I then built Lynaker Port.
Here's a pic:
That's all for today. =D

I was talking about Kontipedia, but it works now.
I think you would be better off either posting it on a blog, especially if you decide to use pictures, or on http://www.fanfiction.net.
They have a category for games, and even though Minecraft wasn't one of the sub-categories, I think you can just ask an admin for it to be created.
Also, the Palace is looking great.
There won't be any pictures, since it's a book-style project, not a Minecraft Journal (as invented by chezhead).
And the fan-fic site looks like a good option for me to consider. Thanks for pointing that out. :smile.gif:
And thanks for liking the palace! It'll look even better when furnished! =D
But it will be FAR from being the best place to live in Lynaker. :wink.gif:
Off to work more on Lynaker. I should probably fill in the big hole at Grand Park now...
EDIT1: Finished building Grand Park. Took a lot of work despite it's small size. I'll post screenies once the trees finish growing. Also, I changed the topic name again, but just slightly, in order to mention Bok in it.
EDIT2: Finished building Notch Temple. It's basically just a church, nothing super-de-duper special about it, other than the Notch Head window. Getting pics ready...
EDIT3: Here we go
A bit of the inside of Notch Temple, with notch head Window. I still have 2 gold altars to add, but is otherwise mostly done.
EDIT4: Final edit for the night...er... I mean, morning (wow, 2:40am already?). Just releasing another tiny excerpt from "Minecraft Kontinent: Treasure of Cagnar," the first book for Project Bok.
By the way, that's only a working title. I hope to come up with a better name eventually.
If you're too lazy to search through the OP for the excerpt, here it is:

"[...] We had to use 5 golden apples just to keep you alive!"
Lyla recalled the ultra-healing item from Minecraft, as well as it's recipe: an apple surrounded by eight gold blocks. She decided it was best not to ask how they managed to shove an apple, coated with eight cubic meters gold, down her throat.
I always wondered about that.....

And I do plan to build that castle, just not in Lynaker. :wink.gif:
Anyways, onto the mornin- er, noon news.
I reverted back to the last saves since it still wasn't working. I lost the following:
Exploration, which included finding 4 stacks worth of clay.
A boat.
2 small canals that were to separate Kontinent from Semiahmoo.
That's really it. The main reason for waiting so long was because I didn't want to lose the clay... but I decided that I would never find enough clay unless I inflated my save size by a bunch, so I'll just have to hack in bricks. Oh well.
Anyways, I'm still figuring out what I want to build today.
Preferably, something purdy.
EDIT:
Well, I built the museum today. No pics at the moment, cause I'm too lazy to do it right now. XD
I think that the next thing I'll build will be something outside of downtown. I have a couple of epic building ideas, including one for a large large "lab" of sorts...

This project is freaking amazing. Is there a specific mining style you use, like grids, or do you just mine random tunnels?
In my bid for Coolpilot to complete this project faster, inspired by reading the qoute above seconds ago, I can give the best mining techniques for all ores.
1) Speed Mining/Digging
essentially, right after you mine a block, re-click, rather than hold down the mouse. If you re-click for every block, you remove the waiting time for destroying a block, effectively mining it faster. Because the wait time for all blocks is the same, no matter how weak or what tool used, sand, clay, gravel and dirt can nearly be walked through with a diamond spade, and stone melts past with a diamond pick. This skill makes a big difference between iron and diamond tools.
2) Hall mining.
Mine 2 x 1 x infinity hallways straight in all cardinal directions at levels 12 and 13. To find levels 12 and13, look for lava, put one block over it, and you are at level 13 (well, your head is anyway). Also, if you find the first layer of adminium, that is layer 4. add 7 blocks below you, and you are at level's 12 and 13.
This technique boosts a rating of 3 tiles uncovered for every 1 you have to mine. Due to it's level, you get lots of diamond and gold + redstone: perfect for tools or making gold blocks.
3) Vertical mining
Make simple 1x1 shafts down into the ground, hoping you don't hit a cavern. Making it 2x1 all the way down kills it's efficiency, so don't do that. It has a rating of 4 tiles uncovered per 1 mined, but since only a tiny portion of that is in the diamond layer, you get 10% of the diamond as hall mining, and 30% the gold as usual. You do however, get 130% iron and coal, making it good when you want lots of iron tools.
Have fun learning these new skills, or ignore me entirely.
I've noticed there's an area of unclaimed territory south of Lynaker and west of Cagnar.
I suggest naming it Rrezik (Albanian for risk or danger), a country with a bloody history and violent traditions, but loyal and protective of their allies.
I know, right? It runs out of combinations even faster when mossy cobblestone is so rare, and when entire sections of cities are made out of types of stone. Maybe he can add stone bricks/slabs and something that looks like river-stone or something. It would be a nice addition.
