Are lakes & lava pools being added to existing areas, or just newly generated chunks?

Only newly generated terrain, of course. He added lakes to the terrain generator, since existing landscape is never again affected by the terrain generator, you will not see lakes appear in existing terrain.

A pretty forest pond:

Just started a new world to see what the update did... this was just a short walk from my spawn.. literally like 40 blocks away.

The right-click bug (when activating an object) has also been fixed. No more accidental lava spills!!!

Unfortunately, custom controls still reset to default upon exiting the game...is Notch even aware of this bug?

I rage quit a few hours ago because of lava pond burnin mah forest.

A huge forest biome I recently generated was incinerated by a pool of lava not too far from spawn.
