Do you often wish that the floating islands in Alpha could be a bit more like those found in Indev? Suspended above nothing, where one wrong step will send you to death, without exception? Consider your wish granted.
Skyworld at the moment consists of only two (decently large) floating islands, but they've got ores to find, a tunnel system to explore, and a couple secrets to discover as well! It was made completely from scratch by me, and I plan on continually updating it with many more islands, and also plan to continually update old islands with all the new features Notch ever decides to add to the game.
But maybe you could care less about -real- floating islands, and your attention is more focused towards the eventual release of biomes? Well you won't have to wait any longer, each new island I add will have a different biome, and there are currently two biomes (plains and hell) to explore already. You can vote for which biome I'll do next in that poll up there!
(I urge you not to get too attached to your saves in this world just yet. Once more islands are released with a variety of different biomes, some of which will contain a lot of building materials not currently available on this island, saves with just these two islands island will be kind of obsolete. This is more or less just a preview of sorts.)
I vote Mountain, but you should try a prairie type world. Basically, it is a very flat landscape with few mountains and little caves near the surface (But many caves deep down below)
Nice job on the Skyworld, one day I want to make the cave story floating island, complete with all its areas. Still trying to figure out how to use the level editor though...
The hell biome is done, and the link in the main post has been updated. Sorry it took a bit long, I ran into numerous technical difficulties, such as uncooperative lava (It still is floating in a few small spots, but I'm done messing around trying to get it to fall for now. If it bugs you that much place a block next to it and it should fall.), lighting problems becoming more difficult to fix due to said lava, and putting things in hard-to-reach chests. The plains isle was updated with one of the secret update things too. (The other is on the hell isle somewhere.)
Have fun trying to get over there!
Also, vote in the poll again for the third biome, if you like.
Woah, that's really awesome.
Also, I just chose Forest because it's the first one on the list. As long as you get all of these done before Notch implements actual cool biomes, I don't care which order you put them in.
Download the .RAR, unzip it, go to your saves (%appdata%\.minecraft\saves for me, might be different for you if you're using a different OS), and place the World1 folder inside. If you don't want to lose your World 1 save, change the number to 2, 3, 4, or 5.

I don't think he means all the biomes are going to be in the sky. And if he does, then you have to remember, ALL oceans have a floor, no matter how deep.

You don't need to download the offline client, the save location has nothing to do with it. Use your computer's Run function, and type in %appdata%\.minecraft\saves, and you should find them. If that doesn't work, it means they're stored in a differently named location on your OS, so you'll have to explore a while to find your computer's Application Data equivalent.

Wait..
How do you plan to do an Ocean.....
in the sky
I plan to surround it with a one block thick layer of stone, then a couple layers of sand, clay, etc., then water. Waterfalls will completely cover the stone from the outside, except on the bottom.

I'd like to see a sea.
