It's survival! what a cool game mode.... Minecraft is easily the most appealing game to basic human instinct out there. So far things related to survival which are implemented in the game are shelter, clothing (armor), hunting weapons, a way to make fire, and a number of other things. One thing that is essential for survival which this game is lacking is the need for food. Since food is already present, this would be easy. You would still need to eat if you get hurt by creepers, but there would also be a new hunger meter next to your hearts. When it is full, you are fine but if it runs out you start to progressively and slowly lose heart meter. It could last a decent amount of time, and it would add a new dimension of challenge and interesting-ness to the game
If you needed , then you would need before that. meter implies meter, and vice versa. It's too hard in the beginning to make a bucket and fill it with /milk to drink. So I doubt will make it any time soon.

"The gaming industry has come full circle, back to a couple of guys making a game in their house. Indie games are far better than most games today because they're made with passion, not deadlines."
If you change the difficulty to a different level than peacefull, your bound to need food sometimes. Whenever I explore mountains (even hills) I need food afterwards because falling off of 4 block tall ledges causes damage, lol.

Milk and/or possibly water in bowls might work; buckets to place liquid, bowls for drinking.
Seems like a fail feature for peaceful mode play. I think it should be restricted to hardmode.
Heck no! I think it would be good.
Keep in mind that not everyone wants to constantly play in a challenge environment. Personally I like to twitch between hard mode and peaceful every so often.

I am a creator. This makes me infinitely greater and more useful than any war lover.
I got the impression from notch's blog and tweets, is that he wants to implement a "realistic" mode
having it get more realistic the higher the setting- that appeals to me
I play mostly to build and experiment, and always hated shoot em up games, so I personally think it should go:
creative- no monsters- switchable day/night, no(or minimal damage), things like one hit blocks etc- basiclly like original creative, but with all the cool tools and toys
noob- similar to peaceful, but with a few rare monsters on easy- for the kiddies
then one about the same as easy level now
then start implementing things like hunger/disease/disasters etc as you go up harder in the settings
what intruiges me about minecraft, is that there is really something for everyone- and it can only get better if it is allowed to
so we should embrace everyones choices and just add more modes of play for different types
like in fallout new vegas where there is a hardcore mode where it makes everything harder but you could use it on any difficulty even peacful it would just add hunger thirst rest and maybe weight anyone who didnt want it could still play on hard or peacful with it turned off

Just wondering... Is making love to zombie pigmam bestiality AND necrophilia?
Notch needs to completely get rid of preset difficulties. He should have sliders that can be set to "yes" or "no" on each side for something. That way you can make your own difficulty.
