Hm, if anybody can figure out why exactly it is so laggy, I would be much appreciative. I am interested in making customized seed/theme maps of other kinds in the future, and would like to avoid whatever this problem is.
Things it is not:
*Being able to see huge chunks of the void. I tried walling it off, and it is still laggy.
*Generating chunks beyond the limits. I went into an editor that actually deletes the chunks permanently from the file, and then walked around the perimeter letting chunks reload all around. Still laggy after that.

Przerwap, upon looking at some code I had just written: "...Gav... That's not how programming works."
I did the same thing sorta, just near some trees.
I built a cactus wall and stayed there for the night (Made a door :biggrin.gif:)
At day rushed out-side collected mob loot. Built a fishing rod.
From there, it's pretty much easy.
This still should be fun!
Gonna dl it now
*UPDATES*
Day 1
Spawned and lagged my @$! off...
Set for down to 1 level, lag stopped
Walked and harvested trees (got 8 saplings^^)
Made bench, got some cacti and went on top of the tree hill, saw waterfall and coal.
Made pick and had 27 planks left
Mined about 8 coal and made 8 torches
25 wood...
Gather a crap load more cacti and created a wall two blocks high
made a wooden door and placed it
19 wood
Waded Night out
Day 2
Went all the way to the corner and harvested every single tree and saplings.
Had about 20 left.
Started to walk back and noticed the half step entrance.
Went in there and shat brix.
Harvested all but 1 dirt and saplings.
Went home and planted 1 sappling, made cacti trap.
Started to dig down such as:
Sand and torch to keep it up.
placed bench made, chest.
Started to dig down making crappy stairs...
Got lazy and made ladders to go straight down until I'm under sand falling level...
made 4x8x3 room and just torched it up.
Day 3
Just went all out on harvesting coal, came home with 50-ish or more.
Made a bunch of torches...
Waded the night....
Day 4
Finally had some action with my cactus wall.
Went out side to see what happened.
Escaped a creepy dealing half a heart damage to me.
Then only for another creeper to get me down to two hearts.
Put my items in a chest and fell into my own trap.
Death
Day4B
No spiders insight means no string, in search for iron.
None found.
I understand how to play, but I don't know how to get the map on to my computer. Sorry for the misunderstanding :happy.gif: CATFACE!
Oh thats easy..
1) First download the thing.
2) The Press the Windows Key and R
3) Type %appdata%\.minecraft
4) Go into saves and drag it in.
5) If it's a world you dont want replaced name it World2 or 3 etc.
6) Play and don't die.
I found an entrance to a "Tree Farm" with 3 saplings and a torch.
Did you put that there intentionally or just forget to remove it before uploading :tongue.gif:
Edit: I'm avoiding using that because I figure you left it there by accident.
Day 1: Started off by running towards 2 trees nearby to harvest the wood and get some saplings, got 6 cacti on the way. Saw the entrance to tree farm and went to investigate. 4-5 trees nearby on corner of map, went to harvest those. Harvested 3 trees before it started to get dark. I noticed some coal nearby, will collect in the morning, hopefully.
Nightfall. Went to the nearby corner of the map, dug a 2x2 chunk out of the corner, placed cacti around, also built 2 block high wall to keep monsters away, the cacti should kill anything that try to feast on me.
Sleeping on the edge of the void, I hope I don't roll off in my sleep...
Day 2-3: Watched some skeletons burn and took their arrows, harvested the rest of the trees nearby. Grabbed the coal nearby, made some torches, and a couple wood pickaxes. Came across a large cave system with a lot of coal and iron. Ran into a couple skeletons, one killed the other after his roommate shot him in the back probably, killed the remaining one. Explored the cave a bit, a lot of coal/iron around.
Kinda disappointed, thought this was going to be hard :smile.gif: I found iron way too easy, and trees. I think I harvested 6 or 7 fairly quickly early on. Found enough iron to make a lot of pickaxes and a sword, so not really that tough anymore.
Needs less trees, harder to find coal. Less iron easily accessible. Would be much more fun if harder.
Did you put that there intentionally or just forget to remove it before uploading :tongue.gif:
It is there intentionally, because without dirt, there is a hard limit on how much you can do on the map / how long you can survive while actually doing stuff. You will eventually run out of wood, and that's pretty much the end, unless you have dirt to grow more.
Limiting the natural abundance of minerals is a pretty good idea, I will keep that in mind!

Przerwap, upon looking at some code I had just written: "...Gav... That's not how programming works."
What would people think of this? Unnatural, double deep oceans cover the entire surface of the world:
<--ghast-infested sky
[] [] [] [] [] one sapling and a 3x3 plank raft spawn
... (about 20 block deep ocean)
<--Slurry of gravel, sand, dirt, stone. Very prone to collapses into caves under.
[] [] []
[] [] [] [] [] <-- Pitch dark mob-y caves just below - your first home?
[] []
<--coal in tiny amounts/singlets? around the caves.
Stone below is generally mineral-poor and riddled with flooded caves

It wont let me download the file :/ when I try to, either my download manager blocks it, saying no file, or if i turn my manager off, then windows downloads the zip, but its broken and does nothing :/ really want to try this map, any suggestions or can someone just email it to me? [email protected]
What needs to be made is an island world. Huge, 5x5 chunk sections of ocean with only one island in each of these sections, if that. No dirt on the ocean floor. Only a few islands have dirt, with, say, an oasis in the ocean world. Islands with resources (especially large islands) have mob spawners
day one, cactus wall, made a sand 6 pillar 7 blocks up, got lots of mob loot
day two, 4 saplings 25 logs, dug base, creeper/spider kill me
day three, spawn on a zombies ass, die
day four, found a little man made cave with three saplings and a torch
thanks

Conclusion: Creepers are Jedi.
Hey, take consent that they don't have arms to wield lightsabers with.
MOD EDIT: You could have left out that last line. User warned for flaming.
Being computer illiterate, I managed to download, save, rename, and import the file just fine. Great instructions BTW to the gentleman who posted them.
Didn't really play it yet, but I've been needing a break and something different, I think this is the ticket.
Just don't understand why all the lag. (Is that fixable?)
The lag is due to the void. I have a map that is 90% void (the Labyrinth #2) and it has horrible lag as well. I'm not exactly sure what to do about it, but if any of you find something that can be done, PM me. I'm not sure if it's the new biome or monster spawning system, or what, as it only began to occur after this patch. Skylands is having this problem as well. It sucks.
change the void into adminium.. you dont need void on this desert map, neither labyrinth map. Actually skylands can change void into massive lava with adminium below.

I regularly lag when I collapse a sand or gravel roof so perhaps all the gravity checks on the sand blocks?
Might wanna watch some tutorials on youtube. Also this is actually pretty hard to do and you should do it once you're more familiar with the game.

Mmm...
Also 5x5 chunks you can sail across in like 20 seconds, by the way.
