With the latest update, we now have red crap that activates stuff. If you craft a match (red crap on stick), we can make some fun stuff out of it. One thing to notice is that the match turns stuff on. Another thing to notice is that the match turns off, when something around it turns on. One more thing to notice is that a wire will get turned on given at least one power source.
(I will convert images to block smilies tomorrow)
Wood is the input, smooth stone is the output. The input/output can either be a wire or a match. The input can also be a switch (button, pressure plate, or lever).
The match/block itself is a NOT gate. Attaching two in series will be an identity gate, which will allow for indefinitely long wires.
The OR gate is a trivial case, since activating a wire requires simply one or more ON inputs.
There's an interesting case of a NOT gate being attached to itself. This causes the match to turn on and off rapidly, burning out after a while for around 10 seconds, and repeating this cycle. Connecting an odd number of NOT gates in a loop will produce the same result, albeit the turning on/off is slower.
So I played around a bit, and got this.
Then I remembered back in Freshman geometry something about DeMorgan's Law, and got this.
And by the virtue of the same law, I acquire the universal logic gate
Heh, here we go again. A little comment though, I thought NOR gates are also universal? In this case, they have a more compact size too, so maybe they could be more workable into circuits.
Wouldn't there be some issues with "current" flowing backwards through some larger circuits though? I haven't found enough of the red "stuff" to fully test things out yet though, so I'm just speculating a bit.
i haven't had any problems with that and i'm checking out your suggestion for a smaller circuit
EDIT:seems you are correct that it would be smaller but the circuit would require for one of the switches be inside of a line making it harder to incorporate into larger pieces in our case being that the more "2d" we can keep it as possible at any time will make making larger structure much easier
meh i was planing on setting up a wire mod development team for minecraft when lua came out anyways :biggrin.gif:
if you have any questions on the subject or suggestions on how to make my diagrams and or instructions easier please do say :biggrin.gif:
