I got bored with building structures and mines, so I started building a very large railroad. I can't seem to stop building straight lines! Thus I present the Minecraft Intercontinental Railway.
True, it's not as long or as awesome as Crest's Interstate, but I aim to build bridges and tunnels with supports rather than just lay down cobblestone. Let me know what you think.
Here's , and , though the map was regenerated and redesigned for Test 4. Save files and cartographs are linked farther down the page, or in the youtube description.
I like the fact you decided to build more than just a track. Eventually, if you don't get bored after a while, you may reach the size of Crest's and done something even more awesome.

I was trying to think of a signature and this is what came up.
Nice! Although you should include all the parts in one post, so people can follow the progress, would be pretty cool to see the journey from one to four.

Well, part one was lost to The Void, but I'll edit the OP. Hopefully people won't notice that I didn't come up with different music from Test 2
you seem to have used autocart.
for projects like these, wich try to imitate real life trains, i would use it, but for a normal file, not so much.
still pretty awesome.
Meh, he could have used boosters, which do exactly the same thing, but eat up a lot of space and look ugly. I don't look down on people who use Autocart because minecarts act so weird already.
Very nice, i loved the bridges, some of them looked absolutely fantastic. Also gotta give some special recognition to the burning church, 'twas awesome.

He dug in the earth ever deeper
Diamonds of his
Were lost, with a hiss
There is a man who now fears the creeper
I love the bridges and supports you've built. Any chance of a couple of screenshots of the girder bridges and whatever kind of "support" you're using for the tracks (Like around 20secs in).
That island off to the right at the end of your track would be a sweet place to make a base. You can see it's nice crescent shape in the cartograph
funny signature, almost got me lol. i like the designs on your bridges, how about making it suddenly drop into the ocean and and go along on the bottom.
I really like the two cliffs @2:35, are these natural?
I'd like to see a Cartograph map of your world too...
Everything was generated in game by the default map generator. There's a very large area with no biome because that portion of the map was generated before the update. I've got links to the cartograph and the save file in the youtube description.

That looks awesome though, should maybe get some lava-falls up in there as part of the view.
There were some lava-falls in , but I decided to go a different direction with the whole thing.

Autocart.
Thats it, I'm offended, RAGE QUIT!!!
hahahaha,
Yeah I'm a Christian, but no, I'm not really offended...
Bwah hahaha, I busted my gut in laughter.
Absolutely, you can find nice views of the supports at http://dl.dropbox.com/u/148970/minecraf ... /test5.png
Not all of the track is supported, but most of it is.
You heard that, green and red.
