Hi, I'm new here to the forum but I've been playing Minecraft for a while, but I have a question. Does fire ever die down? Or does it last forever? I just accidentally burned down my house and I need to know if I have to put it all out or if it will die down eventually.
I also vouch for the sucess that can be had in punching fire out. I would also suggest a bucket of water.
But hopefully, the fire will not burn forever; just be sure that there's no trees next to or anywhere near your house; else we could be looking at a fire which will burn for quite a while.

Ha! I don't even know the meaning of the word, "Illiterate!"
I have, in fact, put fire out with my bare hands. I find Minecraft perfectly realistic.
