Hey guys, could someone do something really nice for me? Could someone get a new map and take out chunk 0,0 and find it for me? Thanks and if anyone could do it that would be great.
I hear all this talk of chunk 0,0. What's the big deal with chunk 0,0 anyway?
from what i understand its an area with mob spawn is higher then normal, but i dont really see why thats needed, just build a bigger mob trap say a 161 by 161 by 10 should get you tons of items

A 161x161x10 trap (assuming 10 is height) isn't going to get you anywhere near the kind of item rate a 25x25x120 trap is going to get you on chunk 0,0, and the chunk 0,0 trap is going to take you a lot less time to build too.
The spawn algorithm basically goes like this:
1. Arranged chunks surrounding player into list.
2. Go to first chunk and pick random number. There is a 1/10 chance that the chunk will be chosen by this dice roll. If not, go on to next chunk in the list and roll again (keep rolling until a chunk is chosen).
3. Once chunk is chosen, pick random spot in the chunk. If mobs can spawn there, spawn mobs. Otherwise quit.
Because of the way that the algorithm 'randomly' arranges the chunks in the list, it for some reason always puts chunk 0,0 in the front of the list. This means that chunk will ALWAYS be the first chunk checked, and the mob spawn rate for that chunk will be ridiculously high compared to the other chunks.
