I think the biggest so far is a little over the 9k mark.... though its hard to tell. The program real begins to bug out after bout 1,000 blocks, and a lot of times it crashs the game.
I doubt it's the biggest, but I know that one of us got 5k TNT and placed them all. In addition to everyone else placing 1k. We needed a restart because people were spawning things before we locked it down to just admins, so we gave the world a nice send off... Unfortunately, a lot of it was placed in the mines below, so it's not visible in the video.

Nice....
Basically though I was doing a video series on youtube of "Always travel west".... And haven't updated in a week or so due to midterms and such. I plan on putting it on hold until the update because Biomes and Hell will make it more interesting.
However.... as a final runoff, I've been playing it myself off the camera for awhile now, and used an InvEdit infinite TNT block to mark my path westward in a line of TNT...
For a good long distance... And filling up some random caves / my old houses along the way with TNT as I passed by them / left them.
So, I want to think how far I'm going to go, post a cartograph of the before, make a video of dying and going to the start of the TNT trail.... blowing the whole thing sky high, and seeing the damage report on Carto.
Probably (if I can find a decent video editing program too) I'll do one final runthrough of the path of TNT at ~300% speed.
Sound like a good / interesting / decent plan? It's kind of a pain to do though since, while I would originally just take a boat across water in my games, I have to instead make a landbridge from island to island and make a little box around the TNT so when they blow up down the line they dont go flying out into the water and break the chain reaction.
It's a fine plan and I really hate to put a damper on it, but the only thing that would blow up would be the chunks that are loaded ... so, not your whole path. I suspect that's why the "really big asplosions" videos are destroying vertical things like islands, holes in the ground, mountains.
How big was it? Does someone have a link to videos / pictures of before/aftermath?
Do we know how many blocks of TNT were used?
For those who might know me and my videos... I'm going to make up for a lack of posting anything lately with....
A bit of a boom, in my own style.

I do stuff.
