Actually, I like to see posts like that. It shows new people the true epicness of the minecraft worldgen and allows newbies to see what a truly awesome map is like.
However, I do agree there needs to stop this influx of people complaining when they die. If you die, suck it up and continue playing, do not go onto the forums and whine about it.

It's not just an annoyance.
Threads that are apparently meaningless are harmful. Why? They take up space and push away other threads worth reading into the dead thread zone, since people normally don't shift through "old" threads when browsing the forums.
It's more of a problem to the thread poster rather than the thread reader. Those who simply read can ignore threads that are not relevant to their interest. However, those who post threads will have their threads ignored, if it gets pushed back enough.
****; this guy gets it.
All people who are saying "the threads don't do any harmmm" are probably morons who have made similar threads before. Many a time an interesting forum discussion has disappeared because the forum has been flooded with trash. MOST OF US OWN THE GAME. Therefore, it is extremely likely that we will experience something as "epic" as the thing you have just posted. And, because the Minecraft world is (for all intents and purposes) limitless, chances are that if I get a "**** spawn" I have only to jump on top of the nearest mountain to find something truly fantastic.
That's the amazing thing about Minecraft, and hell; I'm all for posting so-called "tourist photography" of your world. However, keep it in the one thread so that other interesting discussions don't get eaten by the maw that is forumspam.

Or maybe they're just people who are tired of self-righteous prigs bitching about what other people post.
It's a public forum. That means that the public, in all its questionable glory, is going to post whatever it sees fit to post. And that means that an awful lot of what it's going to post is going to be dull, pointless, inane, repetitive, stupid, annoying, childish, self-indulgent, antagonistic or any of the myriad qualities that one might find in any sampling of said public. And that's the way it goes.
Anyone who wants to try to make this forum a better place has exactly one way to do so-- by writing quality posts. That's it. Bitching about other people's posts doesn't do anything to make the forum a better place-- it just adds to the dullness, pointlessness, inanity, repetition, stupidity, annoyance, childishness, self-indulgence and particularly the antagonism.
I have to disagree, Arlo. Whilst it is a public forum, I don't think it is unreasonable to attempt to prune out some of the unproductive and uninteresting threads. By informing posters of what they are doing wrong (not using the search function, spamming useless threads, doubleposting) we hope to stop them from repeating those errors. The whole point of educating people is to shape them into something better and more constructive.

Certainly it can be of benefit to try to guide the people who clog the board with nonsense into not doing so, but there's an enormous difference between trying to help out other posters and improve the board and simply crashing around, hurling compensatory scorn at strangers. And there's far too little of the former and far too much of the latter-- far too little helpful direction and far too much self-indulgent flaming. And it was the latter I was addressing.
Now-- I note (and already noted, though didn't express it) that your contributions to this thread have been even-tempered and fair and have obviously been for the purpose of actually improving the forum, rather than simply for the comforting feeling that one gets from tossing insults at strangers from behind the safety of a monitor. I also note that, as such, your contributions have been the exception rather than the rule.
First-- my map is epic. As a matter of fact, I have at least three or four truly epic maps. And if I slogged through generating another dozen or two dull ones, I don't doubt that I'd come up with another epic one. And that's the problem-- it's not that the epic maps aren't epic-- they are. And I'm pleased for the people who get them and want to show them off. But there are lots of epic maps out there-- that's just one of the great things about this game.
Second-- if people want to post their epic maps-- let 'em. What the hell difference does it make to you? Is it painful? Fattening? Poisonous? Do your fingers take control of your mind and click the threads against your will? Are you dragged, kicking and screaming, into viewing those threads? Or are they just hotlinked words on a screen, there to be clicked or ignored, as you might please?
And third-- I think I can safely say that, at the moment, the most tedious, predictable and trite posts on this board are the ones scoffing at other posts for being tedious, predictable and trite.
This is how you break down to see what gets the most attention on this site.
45% - programs and skins ( <- this is a good thing)
40% - troll and useless threads ( <- this is a NOT good thing)
14% - the cream of the cream best threads.
.75% - the good threads that get bumped until they get noticed.
.25% - legit, good threads that never get discovered since the first two hog all the attention.
Programs and skins are in 2 separate forum sections. You are not in a position to decide which threads are useless. There are moderators for that job.
i have around 450'ish posts, and you found about 3-4 bumps on me on a couple pages. the other ones i was just responding to the actual thread.
and i was talking about making useless threads.

That was 6 posts out of the first 2 pages (20 posts? 30% of your most recent posts?) which were bumps or posts contributing nothing at all to the thread. Just saying, don't throw stones dude.
Just checked, 3 of them are bumps, 1 of which contained a triple post. 2 were you quoting people and putting no reply, and the last one is the one that takes the cake. IT'S ABOUT YOUR EPIC SPAWN POINT! I wish I'd noticed it when I first posted my retort. It even contains the word "epic" in the thread title. Ironic isn't it?
actually, everyone in this thread thats agreeing with the OP is butthurt.
QQ more
and yes, I created an account on here just to post this.
EDIT: My spawn point was next to a big ocean with about 70 blocks of clay scattered in a small area. There was also a coal deposit about 3 blocks under where I started digging. Feels good man

I wasn't agreeing with the OP, try reading threads before jumping to conclusions. I was pointing out that one of the people spamming this thread agreeing with the OP has made a large proportion of useless posts.
Honestly, I rather like threads about a person's newly generated realm of unending awesomeness.
But only so long as the world is genuinely fascinating, and that the thread's creator cares about the quality of his or her thread. So long as the creator includes plenty of good screenshots and possibly even a download link, I see no problem with the thread's existence. Anything short of that, though, is spammy, and an unwelcome waste of space.
However, I do agree there needs to stop this influx of people complaining when they die. If you die, suck it up and continue playing, do not go onto the forums and whine about it.
