Now, I'm sure many people of the Minecraft community have come across large caverns, or explored into already open caves and found mobs, but since this is my first time coming across such a large find, I felt it'd be fun to share my experience - perhaps I've even post a video to show the extent of how large the damned cavern is; I haven't even finished exploring it.
For the past few days I'd been digging a large rectangular area. It's 100x50x25 (length x width x height/depth). I had planned on hollowing out this big rectangular prism, then covering it up so I could practice making more extravagant buildings on the top, while I create an underground and underwater glass system inside.
So, I'm finally finished digging away on the surface, letting the water even out so it would become still (I dug one level down within the perimeter so I'd have a one-block water level). When I'm finally finished, the water wouldn't go any further, which annoyed the hell out of me, as it only need cover a little bit more!!!
In my frustration, I dig randomly at the sand that hasn't been covered by water... And then it all starts falling, along with me. BAM... Little health left and one block from away from lava, though thankfully to my right was a river water.
I'd fallen a fair way down, a good 20 blocks. I was amazed; I'd been clearing out the surface for days and all this time, I'd had this cavern beneath me and it'd been in the one spot that didn't want to be covered by water - WHAT LUCK!
So, I decide to go searching. I find more lava rivers, as well as more water next to it. I begin to delve deeper, only to be ambushed by bloody 3 skeletons, 2 exploding penises (creepers) and 4 zombies and 1 spider... I start spamming arrows, eat a golden apple and eventually they're all dead.
To rap this story up, I continued deeper, only to find more monsters, and MORE. I haven't been everywhere in the cave system yet, but I've come across so many bloody monsters. It sort of irritates me. It all my other maps I've never some across so many monsters in one cave system - it is absolutely maddening, though exciting at the same time. I've even bumped into that green blobs a few times.
Overall, I'm fortunate that water didn't do as I wished it to or I mightn't have, forgive the pun, fallen upon this great find.

Sin.
Anyway, good read.
