I have been experimenting with a mine cart track that leads from my spawn to my floating base, but the engine keeps running out of fuel, and I have to go find it somewhere in the middle. I am thinking of making it a giant loop that is steeper on the way down so that I can just push it back to my spawn, but I ran out of tracks, and I accidentally washed away some of my current track when I misplaced a bucket of water. What I am wondering though, is if there's a way to make a perpetual track where the carts will keep going around without stopping.
That's helpful, but my house is much higher up than my spawn. I want the carts to bring me up and go back down without me having to find them in the middle. Can I raise my spawn if I put blocks on it, or will I just suffocate?
Follow the link that Maurice posted, and make a booster that boosts your cart uphill to your house (two parallell mine tracks, one for your cart and one for the booster). Then loop the track around in a circle so the cart rolls back downhill (saving lots of minetracks ftw :biggrin.gif:). Might want to expand on this idea a little bit but this basic setup should work :smile.gif:

No, with autocart you don't even need boosters, just hop in your cart, punch the cart, and off it goes.
just sayin, if you wanted, you could just leave the engine minecart at your spawn with a chest full of coal, its not an amazing idea of ingenuity and long equations and thinking, but it seems like the easiest thing to do... and sometimes thats the best.
