Once again, you try setting up a freaking company in two weeks and deal with server issues at the same time. Be glad you can actually play the freaking game. Actually, be glad that you had an update within the last month. Some alpha/beta stage games don't even add new content at that rate.

Your logic is seriously retarded:
1. Notch promises regular updates and smp&beta soon
2. People BELIEVE him and buy the game, giving him money
3. He takes the money and starts his own company
4. He says that starting his company with OUR money takes all his time, so he can't keep his promises

This is a joke. If there's is not major update in the next 14 days, I will seriously think about getting my money back. You are aware that updating is only NOTCHS responsibility right? We don't care that he has meetings. We payed, and we want what's promised. I can understand slight delays, but it's been like 4 months now, and smp is STILL not working.

Notch's timetable is not delayed anymore, it's non-existant.

The first one. The weekly updates are what enticed me to buy the game. And the idea of actual working SMP.

speaking of notch not keeping his promises... has he been hanging out with obama lately? neither of them are going to get much done if they're always lollygaging.

I havent really read all of the flame that happened from page 5-8, but im just posting my own opinion, i aint callin anyone a dumbass, and youre free to keep your own opinion, i ask before you read this that you dont call me a dumb ass for holding my own opinion about this product. However, i am 100% satisfied with Notch as of right now. He has a legitimate excuse to not be putting out these updates right now, because when he does get this company up and running, he could potentially be putting out the updates people on the "want more updates notch has no excuses" side of the argument want, he could put out updates with as much content as the early friday updates every day with a team of programmers working with him, and if you want to quit minecraft now, and get your money back, then thats your choice, but with patience, you'll be getting an even better experience with minecraft than you had before Notch started having these problems with the servers and the demands placed on him with having to write ever more complex updates every week. with a little patience, you'll get what you want tenfold, and we can put all this behind us.

I'm not really angry, just... disappointed. I was looking forward to one the whole week. :sad.gif:

My view is thus.
Yes. The lack of updates are vexing but - A: He was a liiitle busy the last week or so trying to keep the whole thing from collapsing from the server stress. B: There was an update as of a week or so ago so its not like they aren't happening. Just because it isn't some huge content blitze doesn't mean it didn't happen. And there was further work on the SMP which is one step closer to being viable. Little steps yes. But still there no matter.

Working out the company concept and structure now is a good idea actually. It may tie up development now. But will free up more time and resources afterwards for the updates.

I am fed up with all these people complaining about Notch's delays. If you don't like the game anymore, ask for a refund. Still like the game, but dissatisfied with infrequent updates? You are not a loyal fan of Minecraft. Go ask for a refund.

I don't care if you call me a Notch-drone or any kind of crap like that. That only shows you as a immature name-caller that does not have a decent amount of patience.

I'm not going to bore you all with saying, "Other games don't get updates at all!" or "he's trying to start a business!" as you probably all heard that before. All I'm going to say is go ask for a refund, if you don't like it, we don't care if you do.

As for the topic on hand, I would like to see apple trees, biomes, and fish.

I'd personally like to see a few more block types... like another type of wood so we can have more building materials to work with. Working monsters in SMP would be badass as well.

if you dont want to continue the flame war, dont use expletives or post anything that sounds angry, if only one person is flaming in a thread, they'll get bored and go away, or realise theyre unwelcome in what is a truly constructive thread, just sayin that alot more can get done in a thread if people post their opinions calmly and without using the word dumbass atleast 5 times in every post.

The point is that no one needs to be grateful that they can "even play the game." It's what we paid for. If you couldn't play it, then there's no product - so what would we be paying for?

I know I'm a bit late to the draw on this one, and others may have stated this point, but we payed for access to CREATIVE. Alpha is just an added bonus. We DON'T have the right to Alpha, or updates. Notch wanted to do some Seecret Friday updates one day. And he did. He never told us that he would code us an update every Friday even if he had been hit by a car then spat on, did he? He wanted to do them as a fun little thing, for his benefit.

You people don't realize that Alpha, well, we shouldn't even be playing it. Notch decided to release a buggy, unfinished version of Minecraft. He TOLD US that it may not be playable, that it was just a test of the new stuff.

And for those that still complain, with "OH TEH NOES! NOTCH BE PLAYIN CIV5 INSTEAD OF UPDATING ALPHA!", I shall quote the Dev Blog:

That's to all 'ye Anti-Nothcers out there. THAT is Notch's word. He never promised that the game would be finished, he simply said that he wanted to finish it. You are not guaranteed updates, and certainly not guaranteed a timetable for those updates. GET THAT INTO YOUR LITTLE SKULLS ALREADY. How many times do we have to tell you this? Seriously?

Also, there is no update today other than work on the company. I am quite glad that Notch is taking this time to work on the company over doing an update because this means that he will have more time to do coding in the future, as he will have to deal with less business, server, and support issues. It will also help with his future after Minecraft, as he will have a company behind him to help with the process of making new games. Quite a good investment, I believe.

Why do people that want updates have to make up ******** reasons like "HE PROMISED HE'D UPDATE WEEKLY"?

Just admit you simply want updates and when you don't get them you're irritated. You don't have to weasel around it.

Can I punch you? I mean seriously, GET THE **** OFF HIS BACK. I'm getting really mad at people complaining about "WHARS MAH **** WHY ISISNT IT THAR I WUNT UPDTAATSSSSS!!! BLAH BALH BLAH!" Hes one guy! HE REALEASED IT TO THE PUBLIC BEFORE ITS EVEN IN BETA. Hes just getting a company started TO HELP MINECRAFT!
I cant stress this enough, it's one guy, hes not a god. Imagine you trying to do your chores for your parents, now throw about 20 other things that are mandatory to do. The MC community are your parents, always demanding. You realise how hard it is for the guy? Immagine you getting harased by your parents while juggling all your other tasks.
Give the man a break damn! And what you see on the internet is not always true, him promising updates is like saying that there wont be an update every week at a precise time. You do realize hes doing this for the good of Minecraft right? So its not him the whole time, so he needs to do it at one point, better sooner(faster updates) than later(slower updates, more bugs, he has to deal with more things at the same time)
