So MineCraft has near infinite worlds which is truly fantastic but what I believe what is MineCraft's biggest problem right now is it's spawn system which currently makes an infinite world useless. Now when you die you go back to your spawn, and there is only one spawn that you can never change, so if you're a thousand miles away and die you're screwed. I think I have a solution.
How about the ability to add spawns? For example lets say you could press a button...like F10 or something. you can press that button and a menu would pop up asking "Would you like to create a spawn here? Yes? No?" Now this spawn would NOT replace your original spawn but add to the list of spawns. So lets say you fall into magma or a mob kills you, now when you click "Respawn" a menu would open up giving you a list of spawns you could choose from, which would include your original spawn and all other spawns you have created so this problem of constantly being tied down by a single spawn would be resolved.
"But wait! whats gonna prevent player from just creating a spawn in front of a dungeon or something?"
Well I thought of that and I have several solutions. 1. You could make it so spawns could only be created on the surface where there is sunlight. 2. You could have a requirement to make a new spawn so whenever you make one it would take something away like a diamond or gold, this would require you to have the item to vreat a spawn and if the item is rare it would solve the problem. i.e. Diamonds' Gold, Obsidian etc.
This idea is great, but the more people ask for it or suggest it it seems like a bland feature that should have been added ages ago. >.< its like one thing that would make this game easier by far, and it hasnt been done.

I request photographic evidence or I'll be forced to state that what you claim to have occurred, did not, in fact, transpire at all.
On spawn creation, it would still be possible to create a spawn near a dungeon. Just build it above the dungeon. A more practical way of limiting spawn locations would be to have them atleast 75 block distance from dungeons, and atleast 150 from a previous spawn location. Quite honestly, diamond is not a problem for people to acquire. They could easily get atleast 5-10 in <1hours work.
