As everyone knows, Minecraft.net is down. I really want to play some single player but I've neglected to download the game. So is there any other way to download the game? Will playing offline even be possible with Minecraft.net down?
Also, how do I get spiders and creepers to go away in the day time? I'm trapped in my house with mobs humping the doors and windows :sad.gif:
Not at all, you need to login in on a verified account to download the game, but I can play offline mode even if I type complete gibberish for my name. How is the game supposed to know if your a verified account or not without being able to contact the server.
The most effective way to Pirate something is to ask the right questions and keep the haters at Bay. Or just wait 12 hours for the servers to get back up.

No, dummkopf, I'm saying you have to SUCCESSFULLY log in to Minecraft at least ONCE from your computer in order to be allowed to play in offline mode ON THAT COMPUTER.

I see what you did there.
But pirating indie games? Seriously? Just have patience, OP. You will get your chance... eventually... when Notch resets the server... EVENTUALLY...
Yeah, the initial login is only for downloading the game, I believe.
I will not mention where it downloads to, nor am I going to suggest we even give him the minecraft.jar, as I do not want people to think I am supporting piracy.
I'd say that if he could prove he owned the game, you would support piracy by not giving it to him. I'm pretty sure you could find a full version of minecraft somewhere if you looked.
The Minecraft "download" is actually a sort of updater. The first time you use it and log in it will download the latest version of the Minecraft files to your computer and launch them. If the server is down and you already have the files downloaded, the launcher will skip the update step and will let you play in Offline Mode. However, if you have never logged in before, the updater won't have downloaded any Minecraft version yet and will be unable to launch anything. Therefore, you must log in at least once to be able to play in Offline Mode, since before you've done that the launcher won't have downloaded the game files yet.
I'm unsure if the browser version will also download the files to your computer in this way, but I would guess not.

Cool story bro. Please make a thread somebody cares about next time.
GreyMario, why didn't you just give him the link? He still needs his account to log in and verify anyway.
Pretty sure you're not allowed to distribute it without Notch's permission anyway, bro.
I guess, but I don't see how the game could do that much damage, without an account. I personally haven't distributed it, but I think this guy knows that he can't play the game without purchasing it.

Try playing with spiders in daytime,And NOT under a tree,You'll notice a diffrence.
The only real threat in daytime is creepers.
The link to download the Alpha client is http://minecraft.net/download.jsp OR http://www.minecraft.net/download.jsp.
It's not a big secret, guys. Notch even tweeted it. Several times. What he doesn't want is people uploading the client to some sharing site and giving it away, as that would be pirating.
You have to be logged in (and have paid for it) in order to download the client. I'm having no issue connecting to the online server while on the client (it even updated), but that might just be me, I don't know.
EDIT: It's even accessible from the main page. Alpha -> Download. Not that hard...
