That can happen. The top hits the top of the map, so there are no trees. Apparently, under it is air.

Any water near the bottom of the thing you are on? That will be your only chance to get down to get wood.

I remember someone else posting something like this one time, from what I understand it's the chunk being generated at the wrong height, under it should be nothing until the bottom of the map if I'm correct

You can build a base up there or use it as a starting point for a rollercoster or something.

yeah its just a bug in the generator.

Could end up in some diamond being very close to your being n_n

Ive never seen it happen any other time then when you get a corrupted world(ie, it might vanish from your save list after a crash etc), but the old chunk data is still there, and if you start a new world in that slot, itll generate a new random seed(and thus a new world generator), but for the old chunk data itll simply use that, causing the above to happen

Actually, as far as generation is concerned, it's very normal.

Try finding 10 or so of those next to each other.
