I've been searching and searching for my Minecraft files but they're nowhere to be found. I feel like I'm shooting one of these [>>-i>] into a sea of these then trying to look for it. I know that it's supposed to be in C:/Documents and Settings/USERNAME/ blah blah blah. The problem I have is that "Documents and Settings" doesn't exist. I'm running a Vista machine if that helps. I hoping somebody will be able to inform me where to find my files.
If Vista is anything like Win7 in its file system, then maybe you should try C:\Users\Your Name\App Data\blahblah. Also note that App Data is a hidden folder, so you have to either enter it into the browser manually or enable hidden folders.
I think that it would be important that the location of the save files for every major OS that minecraft runs on should be listed somewhere on the forums, perhaps a sticky, as i have seen a huge amount of people ask this on the IRC.
If it is in fact on the forum as a sticky, i need to lurk moar.

I'm sure it's buried in a couple of tutorials/guides. NBTedit had instructions on how to locate them so you can get the level.dat.

Hmm.. well perhaps it would be good to sticky it somewhere in the Alpha forum so that people who want to backup their save files can find out how quickly and painlessly.
