These happen all the time in MC.
I commonly make ones that happen to be dead-ends into Mine Bases, so I have supplies and a place to store minerals in case I get lost underground.
And if caves were to be realistic, there would be stalagmites, stalactites, and other cave features. But this is Minecraft. I't NOT realistic. Deal with it.

Thats creepy, because earlier I found a cave EXACTLY like that.

I shall be leashing it, and taking it for a walk across someone's crops. If they glassed the top, I shall destroy, and then walk.
By day, innocent Cobblestone manufacturer. By night, malicious pig-walker.
i find it hard to believe that these symmetrical rooms are random and aren't intended for anything if they don't already indicate something we haven't discovered, but i guess anything's possible. i found my first yesterday

Might be a hint at him doing pre-rendered dungeons that are more than just a room. Or not.
Either that or it is just a bug in the rendering engine.
Would be fun, to find a dungeon filled with Notches own handiwork trying to kill us. Traps and such.
That's what happens when the random cave generator hits a low number for radial randomness.
Caves seem to be made of random size, length, and roundness 'macaronies' that go every which way (again random) underground.
This... Using my glass terrain (that allows me to see through the ground) while looking at maps I could see quite clearly how caves are often just bendy tubes going every which way, often with rooms like this at one end.
I've found a few of these (one of them also had flowing water if I remember correctly). I should probably start using mine for storage along with workbenches and furnaces.

Today, everything's green. - - Tomorrow, is the doom.
Is this your idea of a joke?
Caves like this don't exist.
I am calling this Notches cave.

Missed the joke.
Nope. They've always been around.
What joke? There was no joke there.

so the generator just generated a 'really smooth really ****in short cave system' which consists of just a perfect ball :]
I think.

No dragons, memes or slanted blocks.
I typically dig in a straight tunnel fashion, starting from a single point and going out in all directions for vast distances.
What do you mean no dragons or slanted blocks?
