I guess this excludes mob spawners but what was the most monsters you've seen in one place. This picture doesnt do it justice but when pretty far down in a deep cave system (maybe 3/4ths way down) I heard a LOT of noise. I looked down through a small hole and found this: http://i327.photobucket.com/albums/k457 ... nstuhs.png
Although you can't see it all, there were about 5 Zombies, 8 Creepers, and about 3 Spiders.
Anyone have any idea how so many monsters converge in one place or is it coincidence?
Coincidence could be a part of it. Waterfalls tend to bunch up groups of monsters together and the current will push them to the bottom. I'd usually say there was a dungeon nearby, but since there aren't creeper spawners it's probably a waterfall or you just got lucky/unlucky. I've never seen that many, personally. The most I've seen at once was 3 zombies and 4 skeletons, with some more behind me.
Wow, you guys are either cursed, or just luckyish. The most monsters I ever find above OR below ground is about one in a room, and maybe three creepers, and five skeletons above ground.
I genned a world and ended up surrounded by hills on all sides. I built my hut and waited out the night. When the sun began to came up, I went outside and saw at least four dozen zombies burning on all sides around me. Kind of an awesome sight.
Unfortunately, after saved and exited, loading the world overwrote it with a new one (only time that's ever happened to me).
Most I've seen was, or should I say didn't see, about a cave full of spiders, creepers, zombies, and skeletons. I didn't count due to the fact I died about 1 minute after the TNT I put down to open up the wall blew. I think there was about 3 to 6 of each really. Give or take. No I don't have pics so don't belive me if you don't want to. XD Although I know now, play with sound. That way you can hear the mobs behind the wall your going to blow open.
30. 30 Monsters. Remember the early days of /infdev/? When bows spawned mobs? Then i just spawned a shitload of mobs and started digging as deep as i can. Woo! Good times, good times...
And it's because of mobbing mobs like that (especially slimes) that I always carry a bucket of lava or two on me at all times. Especially against slimes, as they drop absolutely nothing useful.
I've seen 5-6 skeletons, 4-5 creepers, 5+ zombies, and a couple of spiders. If you build at the top of a shallow hill, with trees nearby and a couple of caves, they will come out/spawn and seem to move uphill to to you. I've built a bunker at the hilltop, with a low wall around it, with only a small gap at mob-leg high, and killed dozens over a single night. As to the issues noted elsewhere with variable mob numbers, I think it is related to the amount in the caves belwo ground. I have a save with tunnels (and two functioning mob spawners at the bottom) under my keep. If I clear out the dungeon rooms (they are isolated so that I collect items as needed), there are more mobs on the surface. If I leave numerous mobs underground, there are few mobs on the surface. I had few mobs initially, but once I lit the tunnels (and removed the spawn location underground) I now have more topside...
remember indev
yea one day there was a bug on the normal difficulty that made it spawn mobs like crazy
i had a little hill top starter base and it turned into a war zone
have in mind that this is only one side of my base
behind me on the other side were around 10 more
remember when Notch first introduced infdev and he had arrows spawn mobs? Anyone have a pic of that?
The result was that one skeleton would be like a virus and keep shooting out more and more mobs until skellie two came out.....and exponential increase in mobs
There were about 10 creepers and five skellies outside my house once, but I had to delete the save because the creepers blew up my house and then I got shot to death by the skeletons -.-

Assuming the entity stats aren't lying there's about 60 monsters on screen and about 300 near me.
it's made using nbt forge. I just cleared the area and put a layer adminium on the bottom two layers.

and that was at my waterfall trap
They looked at me and ran as close to the tree as they could.
Perhaps this is how baby creepers are born.
