I was running low on clay, so I decided to boat my way to a new, undiscovered, far-away island. I gathered a healthy amount of clay and I decided to go back since I pretty much had everything I needed. On my way I was tempted by a cave entrance so I decided to go in and mine a bit. The game IS called Minecraft for a reason. I mined more and more with no end to the cave in sight. I eventually gathered up more than enough iron and even a bit of gold, so I decided to leave. The problem was, I was so deep in this cave that I was completely lost. Lucky for me I had over 300 dirt blocks so I decided to escape by uprooting. During this long process I was deathly afraid that I would break a block with lava over it. Eventually I got out at night to somewhere I didn't remember on that island. After walking around I noticed on the mountaintop my shrine (it has NOTHING to do with Thomas) with the two torches in its hands. It was my island! I'd dug so deep in the cavern and moved so far, I uprooted on my own island!
Has anyone else have any similar stories they'd like to share?
Of course you foolish mortals, can you not see it was the power of Thomas that did such. By the god Thomas be praised. Even though his shrine "does not have to do with thomas'".

You can go ahead and move at the speed of light, But i will move at the speed of darkness.
Heh, I once became hopelessly lost from my fortress and died, and my spawn island was far from my base as well. I decided since I was so lost and far away, I'd set off in the OPPOSITE direction and start a new settlement.
Little did I know the "new land" I reached was a peninsula of the same main island my fortress was on, and fter following it to the mainland of a "new continent," just as night fell, I happened across my base. ._.
after exploring a new cave i found for possibly iron, i didnt want to search for the entrance so i just started digging stairs. after a large climb i wound up in the cliff overlooking my base, at least 30 blocks above sealevel.
its was a great sight for me as i was right at my watchtower level
I once spent more than 2 hours wandering around lighting up a massive complex. At some point I began to run out of torches, so I had to find my way out, but I was totally lost despite there being light everywhere. I eventually found a massive vertical shaft that went more than half way to the surface, and at the top of this shaft was another tunnel that slowly curved upward and exited into daylight.
When I finally made it out I was less than 30 blocks from where I had gone in, I found it hard to overstate my satisfaction.

I wasn't exactly going to break out into song in the middle of the topic XD
To be on topic though, I always end up in the oddest of places when delving deep into the world without paying heed to cardinal direction. I once dug up into what I thought was a lake, and it ended up being a pool within my fort. Skills. e.e

Long before a man comes of age and takes up his sword he knows what cause he shall die for.
I was digging in a cavern, I wandered for days, gathering over 200 iron ore, then I dig a spiral staircase back up to the surface, expecting to be far from home, or in the middle of the ocean. I was maybe 50 blocks from my base.

And my fists dont punch trees down or break rocks....
Ok so let's make wood be the strongest material, make pigs fly, and make cows produce lava instead of milk.
My success is I died and when I respawned, I started looking for my house (where I died directly in front of). I had no luck after 10 minutes so I gathered a lot of dirt and started building a large tower. I jumped off and died. I respawned IN FRONT OF MY HOUSE. :biggrin.gif:

My map is very low on water. Its mostly on foothills and it usually takes up to a day to get to the ocean.
I was mining for coal really deep in my mine and after a while I heard water! WATER! and lava :sad.gif: I also met a couple buddies down there; Blobs....
Anyways; I was excited about the water, it took less time to ride my mine cart down to the water than walk all day(game time) to the ocean.
