Generally I edit for the updates. Generally, don't kill me, I don't like infdev. I find it boring. The thing I'm interested in is the player interaction of SMP. So, I hack everything, learn, and prepare myself for SMP.
Ive never used NBTEdit, and I don't intend to, I have used INVEdit however, but only for "special projects", and I never edit legit worlds, so 95% of the time I am playing legit....updates have me constantly restarting legit worlds though
I'm glad to see what the poll has become. I probably sounded a little harsh calling edits a bad thing because there are reasons to use it (justified or otherwise)
I mainly wanted to see the consensus of the community because my server will be strictly Role Play, so nothing gets edited in. Anyone that plays on my world can choose what they want to do, but they will need to use the resources I provide (guilds, teams, etc.) from the start to get it done, which I find an epic way of building a strong server.
I admit to using NBTedit back when indev was all the rave because I wanted to go TNTing or get lots of diamond, but this world I have is strictly for grinding collectively, which I'll have a lot of fun showcasing when the time comes.
Short version: You're not wrong to use edits for whatever reason, but I won't be playing on servers that have edited stuff because I feel it's just not the way to go, and I will run 500 chunks if I have to for new features :smile.gif:
I play legit most of the time, but when I get bored and feel like constructing something big, I'll cheat. I usually only do that on my World 5 save. Also, I do it to just test things out, I.e, there's something I'd like to make that involves mine carts, but I don't want to spend an hour gathering enough tracks to test it, only to be disappointed if it doesn't work; saves me time and frustration.
[] Probably its 10% play time when I get bored of just surviving (which is pretty much all the time), and 90% constructing a scenario to play in.
[] So thats 90% using programs and edits to create scenarios. Makes the 10% of play time really worth it though. I would also love to play in servers that are survival. Anything else, and it would probably ruin that type of multiplayer experience.

On topic; there's nothing wrong with hacking, so long as it's in single player. It's fun to play around in survival.
EDIT: One hundredth post.

An apple a day still leaves you 3-4 servings away from your daily fruit recommendation.
I do like to edit in lots of TNT every now and then for some fun.
And I also don't know how to use NTB Edit >.>
If I cheated I'd get bored of Minecraft in like 2 hours, same with cheating in anything.
