What about an icosphere instead of a dodecahedron? It's built based on three planes (making it easier to work out in MC) and appears frequently in nature, if on a microscopic scale.

I made this quickly, gotta love /box and /line tools.
I think its a good idea, but to me seems like you could just make a ton of glass and put it around a random area on the map and make pretty much the same thing, don't mean to criticize though, looks good.

LINES NOT EQUAL LENGTH *mathrage*
No one gave me trusted builder on the server I made the icosahedron/dodecahedron compound, so I had to build the lines by hand ;_;

My Youtube channel.
Contains Pachebel's Canon made with noteblocks, a working Rubik's cube made with pistons, and the ultimate TNT cannon.
This would make for an awesome community game idea. Have everyone take turns collecting and then adding a feature to the cube. With a lot of people taking turns making it you could make it even larger and more grandiose features.
In fact...
Would you mind if I took this idea and made a multiplayer thread with this idea in mind (With all proper credit given to this one of course)? Or you could do it yourself since you had been trading files with a friend and would to know how to organize it better than I would anyways.
Volume of outer cube - Volume of inner cube = Volume of shell
In this case...
Volume of outer cube = (26³) = (26x26x26) = 17,576.
Volume of inner cube = (24³) = (24x24x24) = 13,824.
17,576 - 13,824 = 3,752.
THAT'S how you find the volume of a hollow cube. Heck, it could work with almost any hollow object, like spheres (although in Minecraft, you can only really get an approximation).
Seconded. Yay people who know math!
For the people trying to add up sides, get a dice and look at this:
Think of it like a dice... Side I, Side II, Side IV, Side III, Side V, Side VI.
26*26+26*25+25*25+25*25+24*25+ 24*24=3,752.
676+650+625+625+600+576=3,752
Also, that must have taken a looong time to get that much sand/glass and place it. A looong time.

Mk, I'm back and uploading the save right now for those who want it. I'll put it in the first post, so check it out (Not sure if there's something I'm supposed to use for uploading, so I'm just using mediafire).

Would anyone else participate?
Go right ahead, I'd love to see whatever comes out of it. And I'd certainly participate if it the building was on an interesting premise.

It reminds me of a bacteriophage.

Unfortunately, I was aware of that, but then again, 10 minutes? max? with hax?

Tell them Starvern sent you
Also, awesome cube! It's like some sort of small ecosystem simulator.
That would be 23816 pieces of glass!

I cant see all of it

took about an actual week. Top of the mountain to one layer above admin blocks. I made a ladder of dirt\torches for the glass to climb down.
