Essentially the roof will be self-repairing due to the fact that ice freezes. so if I need to make a quick escape into my base, I just break part of the roof and hop into the water stream. :biggrin.gif:
There used to be an island where the base now is, but I managed to clear it all away. It's taken me about 50 stone pickaxes and 15 stone shovels to get to where I am now, and I have a feeling I'll triple that number by the time I'm done. @[email protected]
30 blocks wide, 38 blocks long, and about 9 blocks deep. Comments/suggestions/criticisms are welcome.

Matt, seriously, stop trolling. So can you please shut the **** up and go troll the infdev forums about how much you want to get 10 bucks from your hobo house?
Since most of that is sand, getting rid of it will be easy
Dig a block of sand away, quickly place torch below sand after it starts falling, collect sand & torch, then repeat. I have one and a half LARGE chests FILLED with stacks of sand.

try making an actual ice base :biggrin.gif: it's quite the lengthy endeavour, but it's pretty easy :biggrin.gif:

I see a problem. Ice will not freeze if there is not water.
the water spring generated by breaking the block of ice will freeze back up.

Do not wallow do not stall
Time waits for none at all
Your allowance may crawl,
It may fly or even vanish
But none will seem more lavished
Than time lost to all.
Presuming you want ice walls you would have to make a upside down pyramid shape so the water can freeze, like the following diagrams: (Ice is the blue cloth)
Thats what the lake would start like.

Rinse and repeat, until you get to the right depth.

breaking ice turns it into a water block in the same location
Thats what the lake would start like.
The first step.
Rinse and repeat, until you get to the right depth.
Third step.
Fourth step.
Seal the top and your done!
Hopefully you get what I mean... Basicly, ice wont freeze if theres a block above it.
