Yeah, what is the deal with pig & sheep spawning? Do they just spawn in any well lit area?
My base is infested with the vermin bouncing around and making all kinds of noise, they get in the way. I installed doors, but they materialize everywhere.

I was building an epic bridge to connect the mountain where my base is to another mountain. As I'm building my bridge, I look over to another mountain thats full of pigs, I see one jumped off, then another, soon the entire herd of pigs was gone, every one of them committed suicide that day. R.I.P.
@redragger: that was AMAZINGLY FREAKISHLY PERFECTLY hilarious. thank you.
i have my wires 'protected' by a wooden door, separating the base from the 'utility room'. in the room my wires are protected by a pipe, going to where they need to go. unfortunateley, utility cave pigs seem to be spawning alot, and investigating my pipes.... i lost every single wire because i never noticed till i tried to activate an appearently useless lever... that day i vowed my revenge on all of piggy kind, DIE PIGGY DIE!!!

Thats funny, cause when I was building this:
I did not have a wall up at first, and whenever a pig or sheep got too close, I would drop what I was doing, rush over, and cut them into pieces with my sword, I ended up with a full inventory of pork and had to start throwing them away randomly before I decided to build the wall
Yeah, this is getting annoying. Once, a pig spawned inside my rather tiny farm, that was completely in closed other than a door, the door was closed when the pig was in there. All but one of my growing crops where destroyed.
What would be a good solution? Animals only spawn a certain distance from cobblestone/torches/planks other signs of blatant player construction?
Honestly, sometimes I feel like the whole "out of sight"-world just seems to obey kind of weird rules compared to the in-sight world. Turn a corner and sometimes a skeleton or creeper or something has just instantly ceased to exist. Come back after half a minute and your base is flooded with instantly-spawned animals.
I really think the world would benefit from more... what... constancy? Less random spawns in free spaces, more creatures spawning some distance away and then wandering closer.
Well there is an upside: Pigs. Pigs with Saddles. Currently they just vanish, and you cannot ever get your saddle back, and its a rather rare item to find(plus I think Notch himself mentioned something about it, but I can't remember for sure), this leads to: NPC saving, at least for the animals, but I hope for monsters too, so we can lure a specific monster into a dungeon and then trap it, for someone else to stumble upon it while they try to beat your dungeon(unless we are given spawner blocks that spawn more then pigs)
