I booted up an Island, Long, Small (compy can't handle it otherwise), Woods map, and the generator glitched and spawned me at the top of the map. I fell peacefully, knowing I would die when I hit the ground and try again. Luckily, however, I landed in a nice little pond which absorbed all of my falling damage. Lucky.
Now, the first thing the game gives you when you spawn is a small hut to take shelter in. This time I had none. This made the game much more interesting. Feeling like I was a lucky survivor of a plane crash, I set straight away to gathering wood to make a small makeshift shelter for the night. I cut down a bunch of trees with some weak, wooden tools I made in a hurry until night started falling.
Oh crap.
I set to build my wooden shelter as fast as I could near the shore. Hasty, rushed building cost me some much needed time. I didn't finish without a few arrows sticking out of my face. Damned skeletons. My health was down to one little heart. I spent the night mining out the floor beneath me to find some minerals. My expedition yielded: Coal, Steel ore, and lots of stone.
I used the stone to make a furnace, put the coal inside, and smelted down the steel to use as a workable material. I managed to make a pickaxe, a helmet, and a sword from the steel I mined. The sun rose, the zombies and skeletons outside my door lit aflame, and I walked outside.
Regular day in minecraft. Dig out some sand to make glass with, look for good places to find minerals in, and chop down some more trees to expand your dwelling with. I managed to dig out some flint from a nearby gravel bank, and constructed some flint and steel; the only tool you can make fires with. I was mining out some coal when sunset reared it's ugly head.
Oh crap again.
The gametype is Woods, with all these trees I got lost. I don't know where the hell my house is. I climbed up onto the tree canopy to get a better view. My hut was on the complete other side of the island, and the moon was already on the rise. Halfway blind from the dark, I jumped from treetop to treetop, hearing the horrifying twang of arrows being shot at me from below. My next jump missed. I was on the ground, zombies and skeletons and spiders following close behind. The only weapon I had equipped was my flint and steel. I struck the nearest tree trunk which immediately lit aflame, lighting the monsters behind me with it.
Alas, while it bought me enough time to make it to my hut, the environment was a forest. I spent my last night on the island sitting in the corner of my hut as it burned down and engulfed me in flame alongside.

My first woods map was a normal sized island. The first day started pretty well. Walking out my front door I almost immediately found a coal vein sticking out of an exposed cliff, and some irons shortly afterwards. Mining the coal revealed the beginning of what would be the first extensive cave system I had seen.
I couldn't believe how far the cave went as I explored it with my bundle of torches. It was also the first time I'd seen a natural lava cave. The lava appeared to occupy a tunnel of it's own that stretched around a corner and out of sight. I stood right on the edge of the lava, peering as best I could to see where it led. I'm sure anyone could guess what happened next.
Kchssssssssssss?
Nope, a zombie walked up behind me and push me in. Game over. Kinda anticlimactic. I was sad. I always play woods maps now though, cause they have the best caves in my experience.

I love deadlines. I like the whooshing sound they make as they fly by.

first game as Indev. I'd read a bit about it, I knew about crafting, smelting and a little about farming.
I was rather surprised when night time struck and suddenly their were thousands of aggressive mobs everywhere.
I hadn't read about that part :laugh.gif:

Look away, now look back. THE GHAST IS NOW DIAMONDS.
Anything is possible when you smell like a man and your game is minecraft.
It was a warm and breezy day. I decided to leave my floating fortress for awhile to go mine. I start heading to the mine, and as I get there I notice a nice cove in the distance. After I get some coal from my mine, I start heading towards the cove in search of trees. Lo and behold, I find the grand forest of trees. In my excitement, I let the never ending trail of trees lead me through a twisting and turning canyon.
Eventually, I get tired of cutting trees, and start to head back. One problem. I have no idea where I am and where my fortress is. I start to retrace my steps, but it gets too dark. Worried, I decide to make a small shelter in the hillside for the night.
Finally, after much worrying, daylight comes. I walk out of my shelter and go to a nearby hill. I look around and realize that my fortress was right over the hill I was on.
My stories aren't particularly amazing, they all end with a cautious shuffle towards an edge, a little bit of an overbalance, and a full second and a bit of falling before my assorted items are spattered across the area.

Ha! I don't even know the meaning of the word, "Illiterate!"
My best death in /indev/ went something like this:
It was my first day in /indev/ actually, the sun was setting so I holed myself up for the night. I had made some glass windows in the walls of my house so I could see when the sun rose, and the torches were sitting on the windows, letting a little bit of light outside. Anyways the sun rose and I heard enemies dying left and right, when the sounds died down I stepped outside and went of to explore. But you see, my house was right under a cliff. As I stepped out a creeper that had apparently been in the shade for most of the sunrise decided to step off my roof and... well you know what happened next. Whenever I generate a new world, I make sure my house isn't under a cliff anymore...
Ok, I was simply working on my largest fortress yet, and have some epic music playing. The music turns minor right as I see a creeper in this cave system, and run for my life. I eventually make my way back up, and just cut some trees down. At night, I go down there again, and see something moving, so I run up the stairs to see a skelly coming down the stairs. I run down, fall off a bit of underground cliff, and run into an unexplored room, and jump over some lava to find Diamond! I start mining and all of a sudden get blown to pieces by a nearby creeper.

Sigh. I'm a terrible navigator in /infdev.
