and a crisis will happen in the sever there has to be a opition to turn off players hurting players. perople

If a griefer kills you, he's not a griefer, he's a murderer.
Depending on the server, only OP+ can build anything on Spawn Zones, so the griefer would have to be an OP or a hacker. Besides, mosts Mods/Admins could teleport to a player upon spawning.
It's called SURVIVAL multiplayer for a reason, if you don't want to be killed, play creative.
i know but if they do it on a large enough scale were it chould affect everyone like moding our some how craft

If a griefer kills you, he's not a griefer, he's a murderer.
A greifer takes time to assimilate himself with the normal cool community. He spends his time collecting sand and gunpowder, he makes many many tnt, he then hides them all in someone's masterpiece. He sets up a redstone wire that will set all of them off. He runs away and D/Cs, no one know's who did it, but then it respawns, because that person got their thing protected by an admin, as it was amazing. So the greiefer comes back and cries, and then cuts himself to relieve the pain of failing to be a giant ass. (This is the worst case for the griefer, and to teach normal, good people, that they should use some sort of mod that can protect their blocks (I've seen them))

Bad grammer is understandable, but that is not bad, that is terrible. A period or two goes a long way.
For starters, if you are trying to play some form of "hardcore" minecraft, either whitelist your server or deal with it. Otherwise, I personally feel the best way to solve any murder problems would be to develop a plugin to set towns as safe zones, much like in MMOs (World of Warcraft), where there are certain areas of the map where damage cannot be done. With that in place, you could still have your pvp outside of town but not have to worry about losing all of your items inside of town.
As far as using tnt to destroy buildings goes, I fail to see how that relates to this new patch at all....
I think people are misunderstanding the definition of...
SURVIVAL MULTI PLAYER
Yes, you are going to die, probably from other people, the goal is to survive, and doing so will be difficult with others impeding your progress OF surviving,
So if u do not wish to die, when you first spawn, run 1 direction until you can't hold W anymore, dig underground, set up ur base, and hide it from the outside world. But that defeats the point of MULTIPLAYER
The thing is everyone will complain bout somthing, last week before the annoucment everyone was complaing "notch needs to fixed health, i wish i could kill people, it needs to be SMP" but now that notch says he is going to fix it, people are now complaining bout it. So now people need to just be quiet and let the updates happen and not complain.
The Sense of Danger
To be honest, the existence of health in the game, even in single player, seems silly. I believe it is simply there to put a sense of risk and danger, or even to produce a requirement of camouflage and protection for your creations. Otherwise, the game will seem too safe and boring if all we're doing is building and nothing can ever damage them. But if the only real loss is time and the safety of our creations/buildings, then even zombies (except for the exploding one) are really no big deal, since you lose only a little time respawning. Here are some ideas to perhaps facilitate this fear, while at the same time, providing some means of protection.
Let Griefing Go
If you want a true enemy who can outthink you and your tricks and wreak considerable damage then let griefing continue. Zombies are nothing more than delayers of construction (ie. sh1t happens), they only produce slight annoyances by forcing you to respawn once in a while during the night (or the day if it's not your day), and does not really represent anything of consequence (except for their drops). But everything zombies represent can simply be simulated by making blocks take longer to break (thus simulating their delaying of mining/construction), or by simply increasing the # of veins/ores in the ground that represent blocks that zombies drop.
Natural Disasters
I'd much rather have natural disasters put into the game (ie. tornadoes, earthquakes, tsunamis, flooding, etc), which would require more intelligent building placement, and vast improvement of the quality of the materials that players use in their structures. Their houses will need to be made of better construction material to survive 'the elements', and to get people to understand the importance of good foundations - not simply use feeble sand and dirt and gravel and cobble mixed in to fill in holes underneath their homes.
Furnace Tile Upgrading (For Protection)
If smooth stone were to take a long time to destroy, people would perhaps take more effort in using it for the sake of making it hard for other players to destroy their buildings, but right now - cobble is just as good. Dirt and sand, are basically paints/drywall/carpeting and filler at this point - since they get wrecked by the shovel in one/two hits, depending on the extent of lag notch leaves us with these regenerating blocks. Perhaps every block could be upgraded when put through a furnace and made to take three times as long as current obsidian to break (ie. 1min+ to break one block would certainly slow down other players from destroying buildings significantly).
Cement Tile Protection
I believe there is already a mod/plugin that allows for strengthening blocks to slow griefing. If using the furnace to heat blocks would cost too much coal, imagine being able to apply a cement onto your dirt/cobble house walls to make it twice as strong as obsidian. In other words, harvesting said blocks would be just as normal, but when arranged into a construction, can be cemented and will take a tremendous amount of time to destroy. Of course, others could cement tracts of land for the sake of impeding others - but again, if the goal is to add a sense of danger, while providing a means of protection, this also does the trick.
I'm so happy that Notch is coding this game and not you guys. Seriously. Survival Multiplayer. I bought this game a while ago and aside from the first couple days, I have no played SMP at ALL because the mode is utterly pointless without SMP health. Honestly, I do not understand all the bitching...how can you not be excited for this basic feature? I've always been under the assumption that this is what SMP was always supposed to be.

But wait, that's not a problem!
Or you could always resort to a whitelist :smile.gif: I imagine a whitelist may be implemented for hurting as well, but I'm not positive.
but what if the gierfer has iron armor a iron sword and the other has no sword?

Then the other has no business playing on a PVP-enabled sword. An iron sword isn't that hard to get. Neither is a diamond sword, for that matter.
Run!
but but!1 what if the gierferereier using WASD very well and you can't get away!!11 OMG! SURVIVAL multilayer is ruined!
