Minecraft has been getting attacked ,or at least that is what Notch has said in his blog, so for all the people here that are giving out your IP addresses everywhere just take caution. You make yourself an easy target by giving out your IP information.
I'm amazed at the stupidity of children these days getting all angsty over things that aren't going to matter to them in five years when they hit puberty. Posting any personal information online can get you tracked down IP or not.
With an IP alls you have to do it port scan since most of you run servers 25565 would be open and do ya dirty from there or just POD that IP xD infect the computer with a trojan doesn't matter what operating system you run if the virus can spread it will spread
with an IP u could ddos them offline :biggrin.gif:
OH NOES REALLY!?!?!?!?!
cause its so hard to change your IP address and everything.....seriously anyone who would be worried about giving out their IP address is a complete moron.
@Mr_Anon Sure it's easy to change your IP, but most 'sensible' hackers are prepared for such. Think: Since you've gotten into the system and dropped off a trojan already, why not drop a couple other surprises? Keylogger, tracker - there are plenty of malicious items out there.
Example: You change your password with some 'items' installed, your password is moot. Example2: You change your IP? Swell, the 'item' decides to run some system commands and figure it out. It then sends an encrypted email to an encrypted address (which even unencrypted is found to be on of a web of addresses, so difficult if not impossible to track to the source), and the hacker knows your new IP.
Also, don't forget - if someone gets access to one machine in your network, it's very likely they can get access to your entire network. Believe me, I know from experience, it's not that difficult.

Viva La Revolution?
to you and other script kiddies - an open port wont help you - because you are retarded.
To execute code like this you'd have to exploit the service/software (overflowing bytes to the register) handling
that port - this would cause a jump to a memory address to execute whatever is at that address.
This is why 1) an open port isn't always helpful and 2) if you grabbed someone else's tools (cause your script kiddies and thats what you do) and shell code - it would have to be for a specific operating system so that the (Memory) address is correct.
DDoS is another story however...

if they don't write their own tools they're just a script kiddie :tongue.gif:
edit: Not to mention in modern operating systems you'd have to give these "items" administrative (or root) permission. From time to time there can be a an exploit that changes the privileges of the process - but lets face it - at some point is all that worth the effort? No.
So your saying if the port for telnet wasn't open it would be of absolutely no use because no matter what you have to make up excuses to be right? Port scanning identifies what ports are open to the targeted machine, the OS, and potentially what firewall if certain variables are present so to you calling me retarded because an open port does nothing I'd suggest you find a better google search result to get your info from

I can tell your a windowsfag so in my next question I'll be using the term "terminal service" instead of "telnet"
When does the average user use terminal services?
If said user does use them how often would they be set to allow traffic from outside of the network?
also terminal services require login, so you'd have to find an exploit unless this person has a login with no password.
(please note I use "THE AVERAGE USER" like a minecraft player)
why don't you learn to code (and work with sockets in low level code) and get back to me? :smile.gif:

Bouncing pings off several servers to locate a computer's location. Though the algorithm is messy lol.
The most you could do to make a computer explode is feeding the bios some info, frying the comp, and hope there was a gas leak near by.
Not suggested to post your IP, who knows who might be looking.
Edit: Perhaps I should say that is not wise to post your IP and challenge the world to **** with you if they can.
