Before the update, the server would use roughly 30% on 2 realtime dedicated cores during peak hours. Now after the update, the server can barely run with 10 people in it without ALL 4 cores bogging down. Its averaging out at about 90% on all 4 cores now....... I can barely run my server now. Anyone else experiencing this problem since the Halloween update?
I didn't want to start a completely new thread, seeing as how many are already out there about various problems.
Anyway, I'm just hosting a server for a couple of friends and myself, and it's bogging down the memory usage like crazy...
It takes on average more than one gig of memory just to run the server and client, leaving little room for smaller applications. CPU's at least doubled.
I don't think I had a problem with it before... is the update causing this as well? Is there anything I can do so that I might be able to be on SMP AND (no way!) browse the web?
Changing the affinity reduces CPU usage at the cost of server lag, all your players will notice severe lag in their actions which will only get worse as time goes on since the server wont be able to keep up.
This is definitely an issue in the code, we just have to wait and hope notch fixes it :sad.gif:
