Flema7726 griefed the lava hourglass, he also called me and stove niggers, after that he felt the need to say "I intend to get banned". You can read it in the chatlog for yourself

Nice. :sad.gif:
I hadn't been to Rapture before the cleanup this morning, so I didn't know what was and wasn't supposed to be there. I saw the cross and thought - Hmm, cool. I didn't know this server was this religious... I guess that is what rapture was referring to - cool.
I have mostly been altering what the griefers add to the server to just incorporate it. One put down a massive stone 10x10x20 solid block structure. I hollowed it out a bit and made it our welcome center with donation boxes for old tools and unwanted building materials. Looks good. :smile.gif: I need to go around and take screen shots of what the server looks like fixed so I can know what I am going back to when fixing things. Lol.
Where are all of the anti-griefs elme said there were? Such an amazing server with such amazing structures and users is getting griefed and hacked to hell. The hacker destruction of the sky house was just disgusting.
Griefers are one things, but hackers? Really?

I think the problem, AmbassadorArt, is that there really isn't much you can do about hackers or greifers unless a Mod is only and can bad / ipban them when they are there. This is why so many servers have whitelist only policies. There are many mods you can add that alert Mods when things happen, and many ways to disable the worst abuses (TNT, Lava, Flooding, fires), but nothing really stops a griefer from simply knocking down blocks or putting others up.
I have a couple of ideas:
1) Remove the notification about the warps to our towns and rename them. Give the warp names to people we trust. That way the main target hit will be spawn. I am using anti-grief building techniques near spawn like trees, low level decorative structures that are easy rebuilds like wood, cobble, flowers, etc, lotsa signs. Griefers love to play with signs for some reason "OOh shiny!" and it takes up their griefing time with something that is fixed pretty quick.
2) Alternately, keep the warp signs, but assign a new class of player like Citizen or Resident. [C] or [R] tags. Only allow warp to them or higher and grant the class based on having played a while and gotten the trust of the folks online.
<shrug> Ultimately when we have more players playing on more time slots we can keep people off simply by having a Mod on at most times. I'll try to keep the overnight clear (my timeslot) at least. :smile.gif:
Why do i get the feeling that people see me as crazy ?
Its not my fault that i need soo much glass :tongue.gif:
PS. Good work corwyn, and thanks for the spare glass :smile.gif:
Lol. I don't think you are crazy, but it is making me curious to see what in the world you are building with it all. 256 stacks?!? Sounds like it will be cool!

I used upp all the glass you gave me :tongue.gif: im all out now..
Today has been one of my finer days on this amazing server. First I got a new main home, and even though I haven't done much to it, the room is still pretty damn cool! Sinn also finished skycity2, and I got a tour. :smile.gif:
Shamrocker constructed the Community Pool (commpool) and we worked together on a resort building. It's still a huge WIP, so nothing too impressive with that yet.
When wandering around away from the commpool, I found a gigantic, we're talking HUGE castle, that oddly enough had no signs. The castle had a tree in the middle, but the size and complexity of the structure blew my mind.
I also stumbled across another cave. After seeing many branching paths, I came out, planted a sign, and dubbed it "Huge Ass Cave2" marked by me, AmbassadorArt. I made a route with cobblestone and torches placed between roughly 5-20 blocks apart that led back to the commpool so others could find the cave. Did I make an early judgement? No I did not, because down deep I found the first gold and diamond ores I found naturally in the server! :biggrin.gif: I had no hesitation in mining it.
Finally, I found a large labyrinth filled with minerals, lava, water, and obsidian. s92harrell, the newest VIP, warped down to me and together we discovered a motherload of obsidian, and mined most of it. Soon, others like Squidman, nasha, and stove found their way down and we had what you could call a party, which included pushing each other into lava. (lol) On my struggling attempt to get out of the cave, cor and wtoto warped to me, and together with wtoto found the main entrance of the cave again. (Though I did have to carve new paths) This "Huge Ass Cave2" easily dwarfed the original in magnificence.
To all a good night.

Wow. Busy first night as a mod. Banned 4 people. Having a problem with wtoto: He evidently started griefing Netrum while he was building his giant city. I tried to talk to both of them to get it figured out and he dropped connection. I would recommend to the other mods to ban him from the server at the moment as he has a /sethome in the new construction area and let him explain his case on the forum...
And: We need to enable /whois at some point. :smile.gif:
Rebuilt some serious stretches of beach. It looks like the game is called "stripmine" craft... Lol.
Ok, went back on and fixed up the last of the Lava damaged towers by Elmegaard's house. I don't know their original shape, so I did the best I could... It looks better now. I had to seal (symbolically) the front door of aninsanecow's house. He had complained of a break in so I dropped by, but when I looked in his chests he had huge amounts of iron blocks (20+ 64 stacks of iron blocks), and similar sized hordes of ladders, chests, flowers, trees, and especially odd - bricks made from smelted clay... Clay is almost more rare than diamond I have found, so to see that was pretty surprising. I tried to talk to him about it, but he logged off. <shrug> Hopefully we can get a better explanation later?
Hey.....
I just got randomly banned for no reason...
i found lots of iron blocks in a community chest so i used it to make a little iron house. so these guys came in, said they liked it and then banned me. i dont understand.... this was my favorite server and now i cant play on it..... i read the rules over after and still, i did nothing wrong.

Jordoh,
oh and it was by Corwny something or other
some guy named corwyn banned me for apparently "trying to burn down a building" with
i ignored him because he kept saying EXPLANATION OR NO?

First of all you are not allowed to burn anything neither with fire or lava.
Second, when a Mod asks you for an explanation you either git it or you leave.
You are visiting another persons server and you will act accordingly,im sure you don't try to set fire to the drapes in the home of your friends?
If you have a complaint on a ban, take it up with the Mod that banned you.

Send the Mod that banned you a PM and ask him,im sure you can figure it out.
Wow, lots of griefing and banning around, quite a few which are people I knew well, or have at least seen. O.O
I just wanna' point out that there were a few times during the day yesterday when I checked the playerlist and there were no mods on. Now, these times weren't more than an hour, and mostly just a few minutes, but griefing in a higher authority's absence provides the greatest chance of grief sprees.
I see that with Elme and the three mods, that you've been catching a lot of the griefers, but I just wanna' throw in my two cents saying you should have one more. Mathematically that would allow each mod an 6 hour shift, and it looks like the players here come from varying time zones, so I think that would work out perfectly, even if 6 hours couldn't happen. With elme backing that all up, there could be up to four mods doing their thing while looking out for and catching griefers, and at usually at least one mod on at any time. Then we'd have a firm player protection system, sort of related to a firewall, in addition to the anti-griefs.
Personally I don't think it would be a bad idea. I just really hate seeing this server build up some incredible structures and achieve such fabulous feats, just for them to be destroyed in the end.
Edit: I stand corrected, I forgot that cor got a mod spot. I still back up the benefits of my idea, and the hope that you three and elme can better protect the server. Good luck.

Dear Server: I have contributed much of my time to this server, helped so many people, but alas, I get banned.
I'm simply working with my custom sound pack and texture pack trying to make it work and so glass isn't black and torches don't have a black square around them. So when i get it fixed, That faggot Sinn_Ah_Taggh feels the need to ban me. What for? I will never know because from this day forward I am leaving this server. I'm sorry to many of you but I know that the fag Sinn won't lift my ban. And Stove, thanks for being such a great friend in this server. Even though I invited about 6 or 7 people to this server I will always remember that Sinn_Ah_Taggh was the one who banned me for no reason. Just remember guys, blame it on Sinn_Ah_Taggh the mod leader, when i got banned it said "For being a fag" All i was doing was leaving and coming back because minecraft crashed. So make signs, and grief his buildings, Because when you do you are avenging Wtoto
