Hi,
Most of the Minecrafters I know on various servers all use the WoM client for fly and speed controls. Just about yesterday, the client has ceased to function while at the welcome screen of a server. Now I would post this on worldofminecraft's forums, but seeing as their site is down... I can't do that. And the reason I'm posting here, as I said before, is the reason that lots of people on servers use the client to get around. The next place that might know about what's going on that I have to turn to *that has the most minecrafters posting on it* is here. If anyone would know what was going on, I think there's a high chance they'd be on these forums.
So if I may ask, what's up with the client?
ps. could wom's site being down cause this problem?
Someone I know had this problem, they left the client sitting there loading for a good ~15 minutes and it finally loaded the server. Their player appears, just can't move yet. Plus I doubt Notch would update the current creative minecraft since he's working on the new multiplayer. I think thwarting hacking would apply to survival multiplayer.. since it's supposed to be survival, and flying would defeat the purpose of that :tongue.gif:
@seriosbrad: yea it ought not to be synced. I think it would be convenient if someone remade the client so it doesn't have to be linked to the wom site to work. this topic probably needs to be on the WoM forum, but seeing that it's down... i'll post there more about it when it's back up.
I didn't post a link, but this post is referring to the WoM client. It depends if it's technically considered a "hack". Anyways, if a moderator is reading this thread and you find it violates the above rules, care to delete it or something?
Thanks.
The reason it doesn't work? WOM is a bunch of spies:
For non-coders, this is the disable-hacks-if-you're-spec feature. But, they're collecting the server name and MOTD too... I wonder what they're doing with that list...
@Jacob_: interesting. i was a bit worried that since the client and wom site are synced they could somehow get a hold of the log in passwords. by the way if you don't mind me asking, how'd you open/find the client script? seems like some top-secret WoM stuff that i shouldn't be mentioning here. heh

ps. what is MOTD?
I'd rather not post how here, since it might tell people how to make custom griefing clients. But, a few months ago, there was a hacked version of the client people were using to crash my server, and I wanted to see how it worked.

I just posted a huge rant on custom servers; be glad I didn't use it on hacks.
Anyway...
Go post this issue on the WoM forums, there's going to be more help over there.

Oh I see. I really didn't think that the client was linked to the wom site, it was just a slight suspicion I had. Thanks for the heads up.
Why is the client even 'synced' to the website to start with? It's very inconvenient to have to wait it out whenever the site goes down.
