Another thing that bothers me. You are speculating about the Biomes in this update. You state:
"Notch is introducing biomes: different types of geographical areas, with different vegetation. Deserts, forests, etc.
Biomes will be based on different variables: dry/wet, hot/cold, safe/dangerous. The smooth variation of these variables will allow for smooth transitions between biomes."
The only mention of what these biomes will be like in the new Halloween update comes from this statment: "The hell biome will be used for an alternate fast travel dimension. Have you read Wheel of Time? That."
For all we know, this is the only thing he is talking about: Hell Biomes. There may not be any overland biomes at all, unless you have a separate source I don't see cited.
All of MrTorus's points are truly things that Notch has said, whether on Twitter, his blog, or in some other interview.
Also, Notch listed biomes separate from the Hell Dimension part on the official announcement. Makes it sound as if they are indeed different. He has also mentioned biomes in previous blog posts, saying how his progress was, even though he failed at getting it implemented. I think you may need to do a bit more research before you continue questioning MrTorus's very reliable sources.
@MrTorus - And I agree, you need to set up a website. You could have different ways of organizing it (e.g. Type of updates, chronological order, where he said it, etc), and make it a lot better than the epicness that it already has created.
No, Notch wouldn't do that, thats something the ROBLOX DEVELOPERS would do...
That's what he said on Twitter. Draw your own conclusions.
Mr. Torus as always a :GoldBar:. Sunboy your quote implies to me that you think Notch wouldn't put lantern materials in Hell because that wouldn't be fair. Consider reading more of Mr. Torus' sticky in discussion and note Notch's comments about what he thinks about the term 'fair'. Just my impression from reading the sticky but it seems to me that Notch does not not think Fair = Fun. Something that is fair might be fun, but something that is unfair might be even more fun.
Lantern materials in hell are a good example. It forces everyone to go to hell in SP/SMP - which is what I'm guessing is what he is interested in doing.

*facepalm* Did you even read the minecraft.net/boo announcement? It says "AND MORE: Biomes. More Music. Better Sounds." Notice the "Biomes."
Torus, you are my topographically complex hero. Thank you for being the repository of wisdom, even if some folks STILL don't bother reading it. If even a few folks get hold of your threads and get a clue it's not for nothing. I applaud your work in fighting the massive swarms of ignorance that cloud this board.

Every time I come to these forums, I think more and more that I'm the only person who plays Minecraft normally.

Reading through some tweets, you can see that he said there's going to be a sneak preview on the PC Gamer website.
Yeah, but it's not really immediately relevant to the thread. Only when the actual sneak preview surfaces there'll be relevant information to add. Otherwise the thread will get too meta. :tongue.gif:

Exactly.
But it should still be a tempa-point that notch did say he's sending info to PCG.

"The level generator will generate large maps using different parameters and the biomes will be the result of those. Right now I'm planning on having temperature, humidity and "danger". Dry and hot makes desert, humid and cold makes snow. Danger and hot, and there will possibly be lots of lava."
from a quick trip to the sources link which you seem adamant about not going to.
Don't double post, just sayin'. Otherwise strong arguments on both sides, I'm not jumping in.
Otherwise good thread.
