So recently some COMPLETELY RIDICULOUS things have happened in the Nether on my first save file and because of this RIDICULOUS THING I have had to go and start a new world, but that is beside the point. I wish to take screen shots of this COMPLETELY RIDICULOUS THING to show people and ask why this happened, and a simple description could not possibly suffice.
So here's the run-down: At first I could not figure out how to make any of my function keys work within Minecraft. They would simply perform whatever function they normally would outside of Minecraft, ie. bring up a help menu, dim or light the screen, control sound and video options etc., and then my friend showed me that if I hold my function (fn) key on my keyboard then press the F1, F2, F3 etc. keys that it would do it's duty within Minecraft, but some of them don't seem to be working. Specifically F2 which is supposed to be the screen shot feature as he has shown me on his computer. F1 is working normally- removing my UI, F3 doing god-knows-what with the graph thing, F4 actually isn't doing anything either but I don't think that's important and F5 bringing me into 3rd-person mode.
Does anyone know how to make this function work?

"The difficulty, my friends, is not in avoiding death, but in avoiding wretchedness; for that runs deeper than death."
If this is on a laptop, it might be a driver issue. In fact no matter what, it sounds like a driver issue. If you are on a regular keyboard, another way to take a screen shot is to press "Print Screen" it should be on the top right of a full keyboard. If you hold Alt and press Print Screen, it will just take a capture of the active window. It'll store that into clipboard so you can paste it into paint.
