Snowballs should be a renewable resource! >:sad.gif: The old-school snow worlds used to have falling snow and snow tiles would regenerate once harvested and even appear on top of new construction or newly grown trees.
But now post biome release, snow tiles do not regenerate. So once I build or a stupid creeper goes boom and I repair the landscape, I'm still stuck with a big patch of alpine green grass.
I know this is prolly not a priority issue, but I really do want to see snow fall in minecraft again. *sigh* What's worse than being killed by a creeper? Having a creeper soil your pristine Vinter Vonderland. Jerks.
I know what your talking about, i also miss the full snow worlds. There needs to be an option for biomes or no biomes, snow or grass. That doesn't sound TOO customizable. Notch was talking about fixing this but it still won't make worlds have full snow :/
This is a glitch. It is being worked on among other things.
Ah I figured it was a feature left out till a more thorough weather system could be put in place. But good to know it's at least been acknowledged by the man.
Yes it's a glitch, really.... It makes you lag and snowballs don't even do damage to mobs, so I would be glad if he didn't fix it. But I don't know if he is, or he isn't.

Snowballs aren't meant to do damage. And it doesn't lag much. Unless I'm generating new chunks, minecraft doesn't lag for me, and I have the farthest render distance and fancy graphics, while it was snowing. (I had a snow world pre-biomes, so I saw snow.)
Keep in mind not everyone is running on a comp as good as yours. For a lot of people, snow was a deciding factor in the lag/nolag war.
but snowballs have uses, you use them to make snowblocks, or really push enemies around.

My computer is nine years old just so you know, I can play on normal, fast graphics. And for me, a snow world is kind of annoying, it makes your view limited, makes me lag a little bit also.
The whole snow lagging people thing is stupid, because when it's snowing in Minecraft, it actually looks BETTER if you turn the fog up to medium, since it actually looks like there's a snowstorm, instead of just a few flakes on a sunny day.

For a full snow world you could use the biome mod to force snow across all terrain or you could change it so that only snow covered biomes are generated.
