Well i have noticed a few things in my travels of the nether, and would hope that anyone else who finds something else out to post a reply, and share with the other forum goers.
1) Ghasts, unless you use a speed hack, can NOT be killed with any sword, or melee weapon, because usually they are in the air, they do not try to get really close, and they move faster then you. (UNLESS: See Note on #2?)
2) You can deflect there fireballs by shooting an arrow at the fireball, and it will dmg the ghast, (NOTE:I have not tried to do the same with a sword, i doubt it will work, but if it is possible, you could kill ghasts with a meleee weapon by deflecting the fireballs back at them)
3) Pigmen are not useless! they drop bacon, not uncooked pork, but crispy, fried bacon!
4) Pigmen seem to come in 'groups', as i will explain. If you attack one, a whole group, and some nearby groups go after you, and try to kill you, you have to hit there lower parts to actually hit them (Hitting there upper part of the body seems to miss them, for some reason, may be a bug, or just to make them harder, idk) but, i have had situation where, two groups of pigmen attacked me, when i only hit one pigmen, then i when to a nearby area, and they did not attack, so there is two possible explainations:
4a) All pigmen attack for a certain amount of time.
OR
4b) Pigmen group up into 'tribes' and attack one member, everyone in the tribe attacks, yet other tribes will not.
These are just my quick observations, i may add more, and feel free to add onto it.
Thank you but the majority of us have already figured out all of these, except for the sword bit which yes you can kill them with a sword.
Eh, i just thought it would be nice to have a thread to show anyones observations of the new items, and mods, and stuff with the new update.
And Starkhanov, my first post was saying you can not kill ghasts with swords for the fact i did not know you could rell them in with a fishing pole 0.o

id like to add that i'm not convinced that reflected fireballs damage the ghasts
i hit one with at least 6 or 7 fireballs until he flew out of sight, and he still didnt die, so either they do really really little damage, or none at all, considering that ghasts die with only 3 arrow shots.

Yes, i've killed more Ghasts with their own fireballs than with anything else, only killed 2 with arrows, at least 10 with reflected fireballs.
BUT i think Notch made them immune to fire and lava recently, i haven't killed one since this change, it might have made them immune to their own fireballs...
