I haven't been able to find any threads documenting a successful mob trap that caters to the spawning algorithm changes that were introduced in the Halloween Update. Anyone know of a thread on this subject?
My Lava Trap seems to do the job still (It has blocks above the lava so mobs cant jump above it and burn their loot, but I'm wondering about the spawn rate, and what environmental factors play a part now (area, ground material, etc)..
EDIT: And the thread you linked to seems to make use of pig spawners, if I'm not mistaken. I would like to do it "au natural."
I'm still using a variation of Bucyruss's tower lava trap dealy. Mine is only 6 floors high, and I made the upper floors a bit larger since it doesn't matter what chunk the spawning area is on anymore, but it's the same basic concept. Getting over 700 drops an hour with just that for very little work. If you want to get the thousands and thousands of drops an hour I'm not sure what you can do for that.
