I'm not sure why it seems most people on this forum seem to go for the other points I always make instead of the main* point.
A lot of people have complained biomes are too small/close together, I think this would counter that. I mean come on, a thick forest near a very large plain and desert. You can live within those biomes and not even see the others.
It's actually kind of nice that you can have that. Big biomes and small. I mean is it really a desert if you can just walk into the middle of it and see all the other vegetation and stuff around the edges or something?
Biomes are relatively okay and I have very few complaints, but I always found it confusing and sometimes a bit of a throw when I walk out of this huge desert and find myself in random patches of snow covered plains or forests out of no where.
Oh my god, I have a map that is all desert with small patches of cave-ridden forest areas. Went walking from my spawn point, took about two in-game days to find any large amounts of grass, and the desert literally just curves around it and onward, forever.
Honestly. I still think the biome in your pic is pretty tiny. I would not mind if biomes took 1-3 days to cross. If survivability at the start becomes an issue then just disallow dessert as a starting biome.
thats pretty ****ing small if you ask me, thogh i travel long distance like a real minecrafter.
ya see that map of yours? ill travel at least 6 of those, just to get to another base.
So you're better than him..... how?
Didn't you know? Matthew is the greatest Minecrafter of all time! We could all learn a great deal from him.
Really though, that desert is a little too small for me. What is it, like 100 blocks wide? I want to be able to build a fort that doesn't span multiple biomes.
I think the counter argument to your argument is that there is a happy-medium.
Every desert has at least 1 Oasis.
Every Country has at least 1 barren area.
I guess the point is that with the biomes as they are, i have a desert in my front yard and a jungle in the back. Perhaps making my "Forest" area more than 10 blocks long would be a good idea...

I did not order one metric ****ton, but I have recieved that due in desert.
I cannot harvest trees. THERE ARE NONE.
Don't live in the desert/deal with it

Yea, and I eat rocks and iron nails for breakfast.
Who said biomes are small?
/sarcasm.
