Since the updates been out for awhile I figured everyone here has had time to create some awesome portal rooms and bases in the Nether, so I thought I'd create this thread for everyone to show off (and for me as well :smile.gif: )
So without further ado, here's what I've made:
The inside of my Nether base, not much to see, so let's go outside...
My Nether bases in all it's glory. :tongue.gif: It was a real pain to build because I had to build it from the ceiling down, while Ghasts continually kept spawning and ruining my support beam. Eventually it will reach all the way to the magma pool at the bottom, with a cart system to quickly move buckets of lava back up to my portal.
My portal room in the Nether. Pretty small, but I wanted it to be safe from Zombie Pigmen, thus the halfblocks on the floor.
My Overworld portal room. Again, very cramped, but that's one of it's safety features. You can kinda see it's other feature on the ceiling, It's...
A nice six TNT that I can drop on anything that spawns inside, pretty much ensuring its death. :smile.gif:
Yeah it's kind of useless at the moment, but I'm hoping Notch or someone makes portals spawn baddies more regulary.
And here's my main portal facility, not quite done, but I'm pretty happy with the result.
The bottom entrance, with just enough light to keep away the baddies:
You can climb to the top by walking through each room, each with it's own underfoot lighting alcove:
It took awhile to grow the grass on the top, and I accidentally burned down half of the trees when experimenting on using hell blocks for lighting (turns out fire can travel up through blocks...) but it was worth it.
It's a bit away away from my base, but only a few seconds ride via minecart.

Ok, now it's your turn.
Naww its always great to have a cluttered up forum with different people making the same thread over and over.
