i just wanted to say that i find it completely unreasonable that people are calling a block with 'faces' on it that slows you down 'soulstone'. i mean, common, what sort of block has real faces on it? none that's what. it's mud. not 'soulstone'. stop calling it that. also it's not technically lava if it's underground. underground it's called magma. get it right people. i won't have imagination and creativity in my sandbox game! completely unreasonable...
Kay, seriously? Redstone is at least somewhat realistic. Magical flammable blood on random rocks does NOT MAKE ANY SENSE AT ALL.
So wait, saying moss that burns for eternity on rocks is some how more plausible than blood? How would moss be possible without water in the first place? All I'm getting at is; there's really no point in making the argument that one implausibility is better than the other. As long as we're able to understand what block in particular is being talked about, that's really all that matters.
we can still call it bloodstone regardless of it is bloody or not
I mean in the real world we have blood oranges they look bloody but they dont have any blood so why cant these red mossy blocks be called bloodstone?..
Truthfully, it doesn't even look like a recolor of mossy cobblestone, it looks more like gravel with a crapload of red pixels thrown in. That, plus red moss in hell makes less sense then blood in hell, especially since hell has red ambient light, so the moss wouldn't get any energy from it since it would be reflecting it all back
If the moss was creating the light, then the block would glow in the dark--it doesn't. Perhaps the block burns with a red light; but that supports my point that it's not red moss--perhaps something Lithium based? I mean, it doesn't even look like red mossy cobble stone. If anything, it looks like red gravel.
Shush with your ranting OP! We can call it whatever we want, because we can. I don't see you ranting about people calling the gold glowy stuff Austrailium!
So... call it whatever you want? Does it really matter? Instead of argueing of the name of what I just call "that burny stuff from hell", you could be argueing over what to call your GIANT FLOATING CITY made out of said burny stuff from hell. 'Nuff said.

Notch has already said on his Twitter that the red mossy cobblestone blocks are RED MOSSY COBBLESTONE BLOCKS. They are NOT bloodstone and do NOT have blood! Get yer facts right first! It's the MOSS that is INFINITE FIRE. Why would blood be flammable?!

In the beginning, Notch created the Nether and the Earth, and in it he made a man of sand and called him Steve. Notch made Steve strong so that he may punch wood, and lo, Steve was to have dominion over all square things.
The problem is communicating with people i mean if you say, i have yellowstone cobble, people are going to have no ****ing clue what you're talking about. same with red mossy cobble stone its simply retarded. but if you say oh thats bloodstone, or hellrock people will know that thats the rock in the nether. the public has already established a name for it and you can't simply change it now like im going to call it SLIP LEAVES TEHEHHE!

THIS
It's red mossy cobblestone.
Block with faces is mud.
Lava/Magma can be called lava even when underground.
Note: All textures belong to painterly pack, with the exception of the Ghast skin which I made myself.
I would rep this if I could, but I'll just agree.
The Nether to me is a Hell/warp dimension.
Bloodstone = appropriate.
Red mossy cobble = boring.
"Aww harsh!, I'm totally a sinner to.."
Wait, Magical Flaming Blood on Random Rocks make no sense at all,
but Magical, Red Dust found in Random Rocks Underground is pretty realistic?..
