Yeah, its a little annoying. My brother lost one of his water buckets this way. XD I just put water onto my 'To Hell' portal. (BTW I might call the 'Nether' hell all the time. No biggie).

Wouldn't the water evaporate if it was brought to hell? Isn't that the reason why it can't be brought into the nether?
i was thinking it would evaporate if it ONLY touches the red nether blocks
I was thinking either this or that it has to be placed on one or more certain block types to prevent evaporation - like wood or cloth which should effectively insulate the water from the surrounding stone. Ok. technically, cloth would absorb the water, but since that doesn't actually happen in Minecraft....

Try my mod Sparcs Tweaks Better dungeon loot, bones in dirt, Witch hut loot, ect
It's supposed to be difficult, and being able to grow farms, and using water to make obsidian bridges across the massive lava pools, and negating ghast attacks would severely reduce it. Water is extremely useful, which is why it's not allowed in Hell.
if there's water it should act like the water in Tartarus that Tantalus was standing in.
from wikipedia:
Tantalus was also in Tartarus after he cut up his son Pelops, boiled him, and served him as food when he was invited to dine with the gods. He also stole the ambrosia from the Gods and told his people its secrets. Tantalus's punishment for his act (now a proverbial term for temptation without satisfaction) was to stand in a pool of water beneath a fruit tree with low branches. Whenever he reached for the fruit, the branches raised his intended meal from his grasp. Whenever he bent down to get a drink, the water receded before he could get any. Over his head towers a threatening stone, like that of Sisyphus.
regardless if it's called The Nether it's really just hell. >:}
I was thinking by bringing dirt, saplings, and lanterns into the nether, and with persistance as you replace withering plants, you should be able to terraform it. After that, THEN you can start using water in your manmade biomea.
Hm... Water in Nether just sounds completely outta place.
Off topic; Why do I keep coming across a 502 Bad Gateway in any other thread? The only thread that doesn't give me that is this one. This is strange...

If it was so hot in the nether to evaporate water immediately, then the person would die. just try cranking up the heat in your oven up to water sizzling temperatures, stick your head in there, and see how long it takes for you to change your mind about the situation.
(i am not to be held responsible for physical or psychological damage caused by sticking your head in a heated oven. proceed at your own caution.)
I also vote for, water should be allowed in hell as long as it is not placed on a red cobble block.

Giant exploding green penises soudns out of place for a mining game. Besides we are humans who take for granted mother natures resources and in this case, we take "control of the Nether".
Its really annoying and imperviates my crops from growing >:sad.gif:
Whose with me?
i was thinking it would evaporate if it ONLY touches the red nether blocks
Why the **** are you trying to grow crops in hell?
Click these eggs. Or I'll find you.
<----Magma Dragon, u jelly? yeah, u jelly
This. Seriously. I had to hack in water to make my, "in case of humanly combustion, break glass," water pillar :l
